Batteries:
– Only use Össur batteries with this device.
– Only use the Össur charger to charge Össur batteries.
– Make sure the battery is not subject to continued pressure once fitted.
– Batteries are to be replaced annually by service personnel only.
If the battery has visibly ballooned or swelled:
• discontinue the charging process immediately
• disconnect the battery
• remove to a safe area
• leave and observe for 15 minutes
• replace with new battery
• do not re-use
• dispose of any leaking batteries in an appropriate manner
If the device will not be used for a longer period of time, it is advisable to remove the battery from the prosthesis.
DEVICE COMPONENTS
The wristband houses the microprocessor and batteries unit. It is fastened using a buckle and is designed to fit
loosely around the distal forearm. The flexible covering/ bellows allows access to wiring during prosthesis
assembly.
Turn the device on by pressing the button. The LED will light up indicating the device is on. To turn off, press the
button again. The LED will light up for a short moment.
POWER
Batteries
i-Digits is powered by two 800 mAh batteries specifically designed for use with the device.
Batteries are placed into the battery case on the wristband, where they are secured by the holding catch located
towards the wrist. Release the holding catch to remove the battery (Fig. 3).
Each battery is equipped with an LED indicating the charge level of the battery. When the battery charge level is low,
the LED will light up red. The LED will stay lit until the battery has been charged to an adequate level.
Charging the battery
– A fully charged device can be used for 16 hours, depending on level of use.
– Remove the batteries from your prosthesis and insert into the charger base unit. Connect the charger base
unit with the power cable. Plug the power cable into the power outlet.
– The charging state is indicated on the back of the base unit (Fig. 4):
– Middle light on: Charger is plugged in
– 2nd and 5th lights flashing green: batteries are charging
– 2nd and 5th lights solid green: batteries are charged
– 1st and 4th red lights on: battery fault, unplug and try again. If lights continue to illuminate, contact your
clinician.
Turning On/ Off
– Turn the device on by pressing the wristband button; the LED will light up.
– To turn off, press the button again; the LED will light up for a short moment.
– The wristband is designed to fit loosely around the forearm.
