Preparing to carry out tests

!
Always switch off the master switch (Fig. 1, Pos. 7)
of the EPS 625 before mounting or dismounting the
fuel injection pump.
1. Using the required mounting accessories, mount the
injection pump (Fig. 22, Pos. 5) to be tested on the
pump mounting bed (Fig. 22, Pos. 6).

Tighten the tensioning bolts with a torque wrench.
Refer to chapter 9.3 for the torque values. Tension-
ing bolts which are not properly fastened could work
loose during operation of the bench. Over-tightening
the bolts might lead to damage and could break. In
either case, the coupling could get damaged and
parts of the coupling might fly apart.
Ensure that the coupling guard is in place
before starting the drive.
The ISO drive coupling is a safety compo-
nent of the EPS 625. The ISO drive coupling
may be repaired only by Bosch service
technicians.

2. Using a tommy bar, clamp the coupling half of the
injection pump to the clamping jaws of the flexible
drive coupling. Ensure that there is a gap of 1 mm
to 2 mm between the coupling of the pump and the
drive coupling.
The tommy bar used to rotate the flywheel
by hand must not be left inserted in the
locating holes of the flywheel!
3. Tighten the tension bolts for the drive coupling with
a defined tightening torque.
4. Connect the high pressure test lines (Fig. 22, Pos. 1)
from the fuel injection pump to the test injectors.
i
With an additional distance piece
sory) the fixture position can be changed for small
injection pumps.
5. Connect the inlet and outlet test oil points.
i
For distributor-type fuel injection pumps, the pres-
sure gauges for internal pressure measurement and
measurement of the supply pump pressure must also
be connected.
i
Use the flushing valve for testing distributor pumps.
The hose for test oil supply and test oil return are
supplied along with test bench.
i
The temperature sensor on the flushing valve must
always be fitted in such a way that the connecting
cable
is
in a vertical direction.
Warning: Risk of trapping in rotating parts!
Clothing, jewelry or hair can get caught in
rotating parts and result in serious injury.
Keep well away from rotating and moving
parts.
Cover rotating parts.
Keep hands away from rotating parts.
6.
Switch on the PC and start the EPS 945 software.
7.
Set the inlet pressure at the pressure control valve
(Fig. 1, Pos. 18).
"
The pump is ready for
testing.
