F. DONNING THE ICEROSS SEAL-IN
Before donning a new liner clean it with lukewarm water, and dry it with
lint free cloth as the natural oils in the silicone make it difficult to grip.
1. Invert the seal in the distal direction.
2. Turn the liner inside out by gripping the distal end from inside as
shown in the illustration. (Figure C)
3. Grip the top of the liner and slide it over the hand until the inner
surface is fully exposed. (Figure C)
4. After exposing as much of the distal end of the liner as possible,
position it against the residual limb and with light compression roll
upward onto the limb. Check that no air pockets are present.
(Figure D)
5. Roll the liner all the way up the limb, taking care not to damage it
with fingernails. Do not tug or pull. (Figure F)
6. Ensure the seal sits horizontally around their full circumference.
(Figure E)
Note: Be very careful that the inside of the liner is clean, dry and free from
any foreign objects that can cause skin irritation.
Note: The Silicone will soften with use, which will facilitate application.
G. DONNING THE PROSTHESIS
Iceross Seal-In is to be used with Icelock Expulsion Valve 551 (see Section
I). The valve is specifically designed to maintain suspension when using
Seal-In liners. A knee sleeve is not required.
1. Lightly spray the Seal around it's full circumference, and inside the
socket for smoother entry. (Figure F)
2. Align the prosthesis as instructed by the prosthetist and push into
the socket expelling air. (Figure G)
Note: If the user is having difficulty donning the prosthesis, more
lubricant may be needed or the valve is blocked.
Note: If the user experiences the skin of the residual limb being stretched
more to one side while donning the prosthesis, the distribution of the
lubricant is inadequate around the full circumference of the Seal.
H. ICEROSS SEAL-IN SOCKS
If the user experiences insecurity due to compromised suspension due to
volume fluctuations one or more Seal-In socks can be added to restore the
socket fit.
Seal-in sock application:
1. Invert the seal completely in the distal direction. (Figure H)
2. Pull the Seal-in sock over the inverted seal until the distal end of the
sock is level with the proximal border of the seal. (Figure I)
3. Reflect the seal over the end of the sock. (Figure J)
4. Don the prosthesis as normal.
Note: Loss of suspension may be encountered if a sock is placed over the
seal.
