Initial firing of the kiln

CAUTION
Risk of personal injury and property damage:
Before putting the kiln into operation, all packaging materials such as cardboard boxes,
protective films, adhesive tapes, etc., which were used to protect the kiln, must be removed.
Before operating the kiln, it must have an initial firing. This process is called dry firing.
An initial firing is necessary to remove residual moisture from the frontloader and to create a protective oxide layer on
the heating elements, which significantly extends the life of the heating elements.
The following special features apply to dry firing:
• Dry firing must be carried out before the kiln is used on a daily basis.
• Dry firing must be carried out without ware.
• Unused furniture material can be fired at the same time.
• During dry firing - in contrast to normal use - the air inlet and exhaust air opening must not be closed.
• The kiln should cool down normally after the dry firing with the kiln door closed. This process can take several
hours, but it helps to extend the life of the kiln significantly.
• When burning in organic binders in the insulating material, there may be unpleasant smells, although there is no
health risk.
• Fine cracks can also appear in the insulating firebricks, which arise due to high temperature differences. These
fine cracks do not influence the firing quality and do not represent a reduction in the quality or a reason for
complaint.

General safety information

Take any measures that can prevent incorrect operation of the kiln.
DANGER
Disregarding these original operating instructions can lead to serious personal injury, property
damage and even death.
DANGER
Risk of the most severe personal injury and serious material damage and even death due to
insufficiently trained operating personnel, in particular, due to mechanical and electrical
hazards as well as hazards arising from the high temperatures.
Setting parameters for the initial firing:
• Heat up at
• End temperature
• Soak time
• Ventilation
Please make sure that you fully understand these original operating instructions!
Use the kiln only as intended and in a technically perfect condition!
The kiln may only be operated by authorised, suitable, competent, reliable and
(regularly) trained personnel over the age of 18 (exception: e.g., for training purposes
under supervision).
The operator should create meaningful operating and work instructions.
Train the authorised operating personnel regularly.
