Full Body Harness is prohibited.

OSHA 1910.29 and OSHA 1926.1053 state that the length of connection between the carrier and attachment point
must not exceed 9 inches (23 cm).
5.0
INSPECTION
5.1
INSPECTION FREQUENCY: The Lad-Saf System must be inspected at the intervals defined in Section 1. Inspection
procedures are described in the "Inspection and Maintenance Log" (Table 2). Inspect all other components of the Fall
Protection System per the frequencies and procedures defined in the manufacturer's instructions.
5.2
DEFECTS: If inspection reveals an unsafe or defective condition, or if any doubt should arise as to the condition of the
system, remove the Lad-Saf System from service immediately and clearly mark "DO NOT USE". The Lad-Saf Vertical Cable
Safety Sleeve and System must then be destroyed or sent to 3M for replacement. Do not attempt to repair the system.
5.3
PRODUCT LIFE: The functional life of the Lad-Saf System is determined by work conditions and maintenance. As long as
the product passes inspection criteria, it may remain in service.
6.0
MAINTENANCE, SERVICING, STORAGE
6.1
CLEANING THE SYSTEM: See Section 5.0 for inspection-related maintenance issues. If the carrier cable becomes heavily soiled
with oil, grease, paint, or other substances, clean it with warm soapy water. Wipe off the cable with a clean, dry cloth. Do not
force dry with heat. Do not use acid or caustic chemicals that could damage the cable.

Additional maintenance and servicing procedures must be completed by an authorized service center. Authorization
must be in writing.
6.2
CLEANING THE CABLE SLEEVE: A soiled Lad-Saf X3 Vertical Cable Safety Sleeve may be cleaned using the following
procedure:
1. Mix four parts warm water with one part mild cleaning solution (e.g. Simple Green or similar solution).
2. Submerge the Cable Sleeve in the solution and soak the entire Cable Sleeve in the mixture for 2-3 hours.
3. Remove the Cable Sleeve from the solution and rinse with warm water for at least 1 minute. Be sure to remove any
excess dirt build-up.
4. Allow the Cable to air-dry for 24 hours prior to use. Using cool, forced air is acceptable.
5. See Figure 2 for reference. Apply a small amount of lubrication to pivot points (E) or at the base of the side plate (B).
6. Complete a pre-use inspection as specified in Section 5.3. Confirm no debris is lodged internally, which could affect
Cable Sleeve operation.
6.3
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION: Store the Lad-Saf X3 Vertical Cable Safety Sleeve in a cool, dry, clean
environment, out of direct sunlight. Avoid areas where chemicals vapors exist. Thoroughly inspect the sleeve after
extended storage.
Transport the Lad-Saf Cable Sleeve in an enclosure to protect it from any cuts, moisture or ultraviolet light. Avoid
corrosive, overheated or refrigerated atmospheres.
6.4
SERVICE: Only 3M or parties authorized in writing by 3M may make repairs to this equipment. If the Lad-Saf Vertical
Cable Safety Sleeve and System have been subject to fall force or inspection reveals an unsafe or defective conditions,
remove the system from service immediately and clearly mark "DO NOT USE". The Lad-Saf Vertical Cable Safety Sleeve
and System must then be destroyed or sent to 3M for replacement.
7.0
RFID TAG
7.1
LOCATION: 3M product covered in these user instructions is equipped with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tag.
RFID Tags may be used in coordination with an RFID Tag Scanner for recording product inspection results. See Figure 8
for where your RFID Tag is located.
7.2
DISPOSAL: Prior to disposing of this product, remove the RFID Tag and dispose/recycle in accordance with local
regulations. For additional information on how to remove the RFID Tag, please refer to the website link below.
Do not dispose of your product as unsorted municipal waste. The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicates that
all EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) must be disposed of according to local law through available return
and collection systems. Please contact your dealer or your local 3M representative for further information.
