– Inspection intervals for chains: The
chain increases in size along with
increasing running times. This is
especially the case during the start-
up phase with heavy loads, but also
afterwards. If necessary, remove some
of the chain links during the start-up
phase. If there is a sag in the chain
conveyor, this leads to the drive unit's
chain opening becoming worn.
– The chain should be shortened after
a start-up time of approx. 100 hours.
This, however, depends on the load
and temperature on the chain. Fur ther
inspections: after 250 op. hours, after
500 op. hours and then after every
500 op. hours.
– The maximum permissible chain
extension is 5%. If this value is
reached, the chain has to be replaced.
– Carry out a regular optical control on
the chain (any sags in the chain at the
head drive). Interval: every 2,000 h
(approx. 83 days in 3-shift operation).
Take advantage of this inspection to
check the slide rails and the underside
of the track pads for wear tracks (max.
permissible wear of the sliding rail and
track pad 0.7 mm in total) and also
clean any dust caused by wear from
the system. Increased wear on the
chain conveyor is common during the
3-week start-up phase. The system
should therefore be cleaned more
often during this period.
– Inspection intervals for curves: Check
the slide rails in the horizontal and
vertical curves regularly, i.e. every 250
op. hours. The chain does not have
to be removed for this inspection.
Replace the worn-down slide rails
(max. perm. wear of the sliding rail and
track pad 0.7 mm in total). Slide rails,
conveyor chains, and the chain wheels
in drives and return units are parts that
are subject to wear.
– Maintenance intervals for the entire
system: Remove the chain from the
chain conveyor after every 2,000
op. hours (every 500 h when using
curves) and check the con di tion of
the slide rails and the underside of
the track pads for wear tracks. Please
ensure that the slide rails are securely
fastened and also check for wear.
Replace the worn-down slide rails
(max. permissible wear of the sliding
rail and track pad 0.7 mm in total).
Slide rails, conveyor chains, and the
chain wheels in drives and return units
are parts that are subject to wear.
– Maintenance work is more frequent in
the accumulation operation.
– Transmission drive:
The drive chain (steel) is delivered
with basic greasing. Check for proper
chain tension and suffi cient lubrication
during initial operation and every 2000
operating hours afterwards.

Wear of conveyor chains
At the prescribed maintenance
intervals (every 2,000 h at the latest,
earlier in abrasive environments), open
the conveyor chain and measure the
wear with tools.
1. Thickness of the slide rail (permissible
wear < 0.7 mm):
2. Wear track on the bottom of the chain
(permissible wear < 0.7 mm):
3. Elongation of the chain (permissible
elongation < 5%):
4. Chain wheel:
When the chain is open, examine and
feel the teeth:
- The height of the teeth must be
adequate.
- The teeth must not show any peaks.
