Safety instructions!
Operating and maintenance information
– Installation and initial operation,
operation, maintenance and repair
work may only be carried out in
accordance with the relevant safety
instructions and regulations and only
by qualifi ed and specially trained
personnel!
– All security coverings that have been
removed during repair works have to
be reinstalled before comissioning!
– All electrical connections must
be made in accordance with the
applicable national regulations. For
Germany: regulation VDE 0100 (VDE,
German Association of Electricians)!
– The current must always be switched
off (at main switch, pressure relief
valve etc.) before maintenance and
repair work!
– Take precautions to prevent
inadvertent restoration of power,
e.g. by hanging a suitable warning
sign at the main switch, such as:
"Maintenance work in progress", or
"Repair work in progress"!
– VarioFlow is a chain conveyor system
used for transporting products
in industrial applications, on the
condition that it is correctly installed
in accordance with the Technical
Data and Calculation chapters in the
VarioFlow catalog.
– A risk evaluation has to be carried
out according to DIN EN 294 before
commissioning of the VarioFlow chain
conveyor system
– The user must install a tamper-proof
protection on the returning chain
in case of a cleated chain is used
(43).
– Walking on the VarioFlow chain
conveyor system is not permitted!
– Under constant operation and at slow
conveying speeds, the drive motor
could reach temperatures exceeding
65 °C (DIN EN 563).
– Liability:
In no event can the manufacturer
accept guarantee claims or liability
claims for damages arising from
improper use of the appliance or from
intervention in the appliance other
than that described in this instruction
manual.
– Exclusion of warranty:
The manufacturer can accept no
warranty claims if non-original spare
parts have been used!
MTparts spare parts list:
3 842 529 770.
– Environmental protection:
Always dispose of damaged parts in
the correct manner when replacement
work is complete!

General notes on operation
– There is a limit on the max. weight
of the transported product and the
max. length of the chain conveyor
due to the permissible tensile force.
The permissible chain tensile force
is dependent on the chain speed,
the chain's operating temperature,
the amount of load alternations, the
system layout and the connecting
frequency.
– The maximum width of a transported
product depends on the position of its
centre of mass and the lateral guides.
– When using a conveyor with driver
chain for vertical transport, the
maximum weight of a single product
is limited by the strength of the drivers
and the service life of the guide rails.
– When fi tting the chain and during
operation, pay special attention to
the cleanliness of the slide rails and
the section profi le. Abrasive materials
such as metal shavings, builder's dust,
as well as dirt, sand or sugar, can
cause extreme wear!
– Maintenance work is more fre quent
in accumulation operation. Higher
temperatures and wear and tear
are caused by the sliding friction.
Please control the sliding rails and
the underside of the track pads in
the accumulation area for inlet tracks
every 500 h (max. permissible wear of
the sliding rail and track pad 0.7 mm in
total). When the system is in accumula-
tion operation, we recommend
constant monitoring of the system.
– Note: Avoid accumulation before and
in curves.
– The sliding friction factor increases
over the course of time.
– A VarioFlow chain conveyor can
be operated without product
accumulation and curves at
temperatures between 0 °C
(32 °F) and +60 °C (+140 °F).
The temperature effects should,
however, be considered when curves
are used or when the sys tem is in
accumulation operation.
– The use of various horizontal and
vertical curves generally causes more
wear on the system. For this reason,
horizontal curves should only be used
in exceptional cases. We recommend
the use of curve wheels for normal
applications.
