6.5 Troubleshooting

Figure 6-4 contains generator set troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair information. Check for loose connections
before replacing parts.
Problem Possible Cause
Controller Backlight turns off after about 1 minute with no

Corrective Action
Backlight will turn on when a button is pressed or the
generator set starts.
Check connections.
Check generator set battery. See Figure 6-4.
Recharge or replace the battery.
Check the connections.
Check the controller display for fault messages. See
Section 2.5. Correct the fault condition and reset the
controller.
Press the RUN button to start the engine or press AUTO
to allow remote starting.
Clean and/or replace the air cleaner.
Recharge or replace the battery.
Clean and tighten the battery connections.
Check the spark plug wires.
Check for oil leaks. Check the oil level and add oil if
necessary.
Check the fuel supply and valves.
Contact an authorized distributor/dealer.
Place the circuit breaker in the ON position.
Reduce the load on the generator set.
Contact an authorized distributor/dealer for service.
Reset the circuit breaker (located in controller's service
access area). Contact an authorized distributor/dealer
for service if breaker trips repeatedly.
Reduce the load.
Check for oil leaks. Check the oil level and add oil if
necessary.
Check fuel supply.
Reset the controller. If the overcrank fault occurs again,
contact an authorized distributor/dealer.
Reset the auxiliary winding circuit breaker. Contact an
authorized distributor/dealer for service if breaker trips
repeatedly.
Check the controller display for fault messages. See
Section 2.5. Correct the fault condition and reset the
controller.
Press the RUN button to start the engine or press AUTO
to allow remote starting.
Check the remote switch position. Check OnCuerPlus.
Contact an authorized distributor/dealer.
