height, ensure that the blades of
the cutting tool do not touch the
ground if the ground is uneven.
Starting the lawnmower
Carefully start the motor or
press the starter switch accord-
ing to the instructions provided
by the manufacturer. Keep your
feet away from the cutting tool.
Stand the lawnmower on an
even surface.
Check the terrain where you will
be using your lawnmower and
remove all obstacles and objects,
which could get caught and then
ejected.
Warning! Open the valve
A
on the tank cap (fig. J,
pos. 18) or a vacuum will other-
wise be formed in the tank.
To start, set the throttle lever
(fig. A, pos. 12) to position Max.
If the engine is cold, push the
primer 5 times (fig. I, pos. 15),
this is not required if the engine
is warm. The pressing down of
the safety hoop (fig. A, pos. 10)

8. Information concerning correct mowing
General Information about
Lawn Care
We recommend mowing your
lawn every week if possible to
keep your lawn looking its best.
Mowing your lawn regularly
strengthens the individual blades
of grass and makes your lawn
more resistant.
Short grass cuttings (up to around
1 cm in length) can be left on
the lawn after mowing. Longer
cuttings should be removed
so that the lawn does not turn
yellow and become matted.
released for starting, slightly
pull the starter handle (fig. A,
pos. 11) until the starter
engages. Start the engine up
by pulling the starter handle
out fast. Now slowly guide the
starter handle back.
If a foreign object blocks the
cutting tool or if the engine is
overloaded, release the safety
handle (fig. A, pos. 10) and the
engine will switch off automati-
cally. Remove the foreign object
if necessary.
Warning! Do not leave the
A
engine running indoors.
Danger of poisoning due
a build-up of dangerous to
carbon monoxide gas!
Warning! Do not tilt the
A
lawnmower when starting
the motor. If you do need to tilt
the lawnmower for some reason
while starting the motor, in this
case, press down gently on the
guide handle and tilt the mower.
Only tilt the mower as far as is
absolutely necessary and only
lift the front edge of the mower
(the edge that is furthest away
from you).
Cut your lawn for the first time in
the spring as soon as the grass
begins to grow and you can walk
on the lawn. If the grass has
already grown too tall, first mow
in one direction with a high cut-
ting height then mow at right
angles to the first cut with the
required shorter cutting height.
Mowing
Only mow with sharp, unworn
blades so that the blades of
grass are not frayed and the
lawn does not turn yellow.
Taking the wheel drive
into operation
To switch the wheel drive in, the
looped coupling link (fig. A,
pos. 19) must be pulled in the
direction of the guide bar.
The wheel drive is deactivated
by releasing the coupling hoop.
Stopping the Motor
You can stop the engine by
releasing the safety handle
(fig. A, pos. 10). An integrated
brake stops the cutting tool
rotating within 3 seconds.
Warning! The cutting tool
A
continues to move for
a short time after you switch off
the motor!
Warning! If the appliance
A
is in the parking position
(fig. H), the tank cap valve
(fig. J, pos. 18) must be closed.
For safety reasons, the tank is
only to be 50 % full when stored
outside confined spaces. The
tank must be completely empty
when stored in confined spaces.
The cutting height should always
be at least 3 – 4 cm since the
lower part of the grass blade is
white. If you cut the grass too
short, the lawn will no longer
appear lush and green.
The blades of grass will also dry
out too quickly above all in the
summer.
If you mow your lawn using
stage 1 (this position is only for
ornamental lawns and especially
level surfaces), you should water
the lawn well after mowing as it
is otherwise possible that the
lawn will dry out and turn yellow.
