WARNING
Risk of accident, electric shock
 Always pull the plug out of the socket before
performing any type of work on the machine.
7.1

Tilting the guide bar lengthwise

The guide bar, including the guard plate, can be
tilted 10° backward. This adjustment is mainly
used when multiple layers are cut at the same
time. It prevents resistance to the tool and an un-
even cut.
 Release lever [3-1] upward (Fig. [3a]).
 By pulling the handle, tilt the guide bar back-
wards and secure it again with the lever [3-1]
downward (Fig. [3b]).
7.2

Cutting angle adjustment

WARNING
For bevel cuts the maximum cutting depth is
limited.
 Release the hand screws [4-2] on both sides.
 Using the bevel indicator [4-3], adjust the cut-
ting angle to the required value (the bevel indi-
cator is divided into 1° increments).
 Re-tighten the hand screws [4-2].

Motor electronics

Starting current limitation
Smooth, electronically controlled starting ensures
that the machine starts without kickback. Due
to the machine's limited starting current, a 16 A
circuit breaker is suffi cient.
Idle speed reduction
The electronics reduce the machine's RPM dur-
ing idle, which also decreases wear to the motor
and gears.
Constant electronics
Constant electronics maintain the RPM the same
at idle and under load, which ensures uniform
work movement and a high-quality cut.
Electronic overload protection
If the machine is extremely overloaded, electronic
protection guards the motor from damage. In this
case, the motor stops and resumes only after dis-
charge, and after the switch is engaged again.
Thermal overload protection
To prevent overheating under an extreme long-
term load, the safety electronics switch the motor
into cooling mode when the critical temperature
is reached. The machine cannot be loaded, and
it runs at reduced RPM. After cooling, the tool
is once again prepared for operation and can be
fully loaded in about 3 – 5 minutes. If the tool gets
hot while running, the heat protection reacts cor-
respondingly earlier.
RPM selection
Using the RPM regulator [1-14], it is possible to
preselect the RPM continuously:

Mounting the chain

WARNING
Risk of accident if the machine is operated us-
ing unauthorised voltages or frequencies.
 The mains voltage and the frequency of the
power source must correspond with the
specifi cations on the machine's name plate.
 In North America, only Festool machines with
the voltage specifi cations 120 V/60 Hz may
be used.
WARNING
When mounting the chain make sure it seats
correctly. The cutting teeth must be positioned
in the direction that conforms to the chain rota-
tion, i. e., the mark shown on the body of the saw.
When the SSU 200 EB is delivered, the chain is
not mounted on the guide bar.
 Remove the chain sprocket cover [2-1] by
rotating the fastening wheels [2-2] counter
clockwise, as shown in Fig. [2].
 Put a new chain [2-3] on the guide bar [2-4]
and insert it into the machine. Maintain the
proper position of the cutting teeth, accord-
ing to the direction of rotation. The direction of
rotation is indicated by an arrow on the body
of the machine, and under the chain sprocket
cover there is a symbol showing how the chain
should be mounted.
 Place the guide elements of the chain onto
the chain sprocket [2-8] and turn using the
chain adjustment wheel [2-9] (when rotated
clockwise as seen from above, the pin moves
