Problem
The engine does not start.
The starter motor does not turn the
engine over.

Troubleshooting

Cause
There is no fuel in the fuel tank.
The throttle control is not in the cor-
rect position.
The spark plug is defective.
The air filter is dirty.
The fuel filter is clogged.
There is water in the fuel.
The wires are loose or damaged.
The engine valves are not adjusted
correctly.
The engine is flooded.
The fuel in the fuel tank is bad.
The battery is too weak.
The attachment clutch control is en-
gaged.
The clutch/brake pedal is not pushed
down fully.
The connection at the cable connec-
tors on the battery terminals is bad.
The main fuse is defective.
The ignition lock is defective.
The safety connector for clutch/brake
pedal is defective.
The starter motor or the solenoid is
defective.
The operator presence control (OPC)
is defective.
Action
Fill the fuel tank.
Refer to the start instructions.
Replace the spark plug.
Clean or replace the air filter.
Replace the fuel filter.
Remove all fuel from the fuel tank
and the carburetor. Fill the fuel tank
with new fuel and replace the fuel fil-
ter.
Do a check of all wires.
Speak to an approved service agent.
Wait 2–3 minutes before you try to
start the engine again.
Replace the fuel in the fuel tank.
Charge the battery.
Disengage the attachment clutch
control.
Push down the clutch/brake pedal
fully when you start the engine.
Do a check of the battery connec-
tions.
Replace the main fuse.
Speak to an approved service agent.
Speak to an approved service agent.
Speak to an approved service agent.
Do a check of the wires, switches
and connections. If not corrected,
speak to an approved service agent.
Do not operate product with a defec-
tive operator presence control.
