Preparing for control unit diagnosis
 Use the KTS 250 with the OBD connection cable in‐
cluded in the scope of delivery only.
If an incorrect OBD connection cable is used, it
may result in malfunctions during control unit di‐
agnosis or even damage or destroy vehicle com‐
ponents.
The diagnostic socket of the vehicle must be pro‐
tected by a fuse with a max. rating of 6 A / 32 V.
 Connect KTS 250 to vehicle via OBD connection ca‐
ble.

Searching for vehicle systems
1. Secure the vehicle from rolling off during testing.
– Automatic transmission in park position.
– Manual transmission in neutral position and park‐
ing brake engaged or wheels blocked using wheel
chocks.
2. Use the KTS 250 to start the vehicle system search.

Recording data while driving
Some diagnostic functions and data recording capabili‐
ties are only available while driving, e.g. in order to re‐
cord events only occurring while driving.
WARNING
Driving safety and braking effect may be im‐
paired by connecting cables in the vicinity of
the driver and the distraction involved in using
the device while driving. Death or serious in‐
jury.
 Place, route and secure the KTS 250, and all
connecting cables so that they do not reduce
safety while driving and access to the brake
pedal.
 The KTS 250 may only be used by trained and
instructed workshop personnel.
 The KTS 250 must be operated by a person
other than the driver while driving.
 During the data recording always observe the
legal requirements for road traffic.

1. Route the OBD connection cable inside the vehicle
in such a way that driving safety is not impaired by
the cable in the driver's vicinity.
Always comply with traffic regulations while re‐
cording data.
2. The passenger must perform the data recording and
system supervision.

Software updating
Software updates are downloaded in the background
when an internet connection is active. Once the down‐
load of a software update is finished, it will be offered
for installation in a pop-up message.
1. Start installation by tapping the pop-up message.
2. Read and follow the instructions on screen.

System recovery
If the current software version causes problems
or if the KTS 250 is to be sold, reset the KTS 250
to factory settings. This deletes all data and set‐
tings from the KTS 250, e.g. license information,
log files, user settings, test protocols, images.
 Restore the system by following the instructions from
the KTS 250 Help Center.

Coarse workshop rags and abrasive cleaning
agents may damage the KTS 250 .
 Use only neutral cleaning agents and soft cloths to
clean the KTS 250.
