Access to subindex 0 addresses the entire
object of an index. Access of subindices > 0
addresses the individual elements of an index.
6.5.1

Process Data Configuration

The parameters can mutually influence each
other. Therefore it is recommended to make the
setting in the following sequence: Output
Characteristics, Offset/Preset Teach, Minimal
Negative Position.
Output Characteristics
As shipped, when moving the sensor in the direction of the
arrow the position count is positive. The count direction
can be reversed using the parameter Output
Characteristics. The count direction should be set before
the offset, since it may no longer be valid after changing
the offset. If the direction needs to be changed again after
setting the offset, the offset should generally be adjusted
again.
Offset, Preset, Teach In Zero Point
The beginning of the magnetic tape does not represent the
measured position 0, but rather the zero point can be at
any desired position within or outside of the magnetic tape.
Crossing the zero point causes a position jump (overrun). If
this overrun is not desired, the position of the zero point
can be changed using an offset or extending the
measuring range (see Minimal Negative Position on
page 21).
