5.1___CALIBRATION OF THE pH PROBE

The pH electrode has to be re-calibrated periodically until it is too exhausted, and needs to be
replaced.
Calibration of the of the electrode is controlled semi-automatically by the PC95 instrument, which
recognises the standard value of the sample solution into which the electrode is dipped on its own,
and displays a quality parameter that indicates its degree of exhaustion.
Material required for the calibration:
1)
Buffer solution with a pH of 7, properly preserved (BOTTLE N° 1)
2)
Buffer solution with a pH of 4 or 9.22, properly preserved (BOTTLE N° 3)
3)
Clean water for washing the electrode (BOTTLE N° 2)
NOTES:
A solution with a pH of 4 should always be preferred to a solution with a pH or 9 or 10, since this
pH value is far more stable in time and is not influenced
by the temperature.
During the calibration phase, do not dip the electrode
into the buffer solutions without washing it thoroughly
beforehand. Do not dry the electrode by rubbing it
with paper or rags. Instead, allow it to drip dry naturally.
Always store buffer solutions in a dark and cool place.
Avoid using a solution for longer than one year.
