MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
WARNING
To avoid an accident or personal injury, always
confi rm the trigger switch is turned OFF and that the
battery or AC/DC adapter has been disconnected
from the power tool before performing any
maintenance or inspection of this tool.
Report to qualifi ed person as soon as possible,
if you discover the fault of machine including
guards or blade saw.
1. Inspecting the saw blade
Always replace the saw blade immediately upon the
fi rst sign of deterioration or damage.
A damaged saw blade can cause personal injury and
a worn saw blade can cause ineff ective operation and
possible overload to the motor.
CAUTION
Never use a dull saw blade. When a saw blade is
dull, its resistance to the hand pressure applied
by the tool handle tends to increase, making it
unsafe to operate the power tool.
2. About Handling the Motor (see Fig. 2)
Winding of the motor is said to be the heart of this tool.
Exercise utmost caution not to damage the winding by
exposing it to wash oil or water.
NOTE
Accumulation of dust and the like inside the motor can
result in a malfunction.
After using the motor for 50 hours or so, carry out
no-load running, and blow in the dry air from a wind
hole at the motor's rear. Such action is eff ective to
discharge dust and the like.
3. Inspecting the screws
Regularly inspect each component of the power tool
for looseness.
Re-tighten screws on any loose part.
WARNING
To prevent personal injury, never operate the
power tool if any components are loose.
4. Inspecting the lower guard for proper operation
Before each use of the tool, test the lower guard (see
Fig. 15) to assure that it is in good condition and that it
moves smoothly.
Never use the tool unless the lower guard operates
properly and it is in good mechanical condition.

5. Inspection of terminals (tool and battery or AC/DC
adapter)
Check to make sure that swarf and dust have not
collected on the terminals.
On occasion check prior, during and after operation.
CAUTION
Remove any swarf or dust which may have
collected on the terminals.
Failure to do so may result in malfunction.
6. Disposal of the exhausted battery
WARNING
Do not dispose of the exhausted battery. The
battery must explode if it is incinerated. The
product that you have purchased contains a
rechargeable battery. The battery is recyclable.
At the end of it's useful life, under various state
and local laws, it may be illegal to dispose of this
battery into the municipal waste stream. Check
with your local solid waste offi cials for details
in your area for recycling options or proper
disposal.
7. Storage
After operation of the tool has been completed, check
that the following has been performed:
(1) Trigger switch is in OFF position,
(2) Pull out the battery or AC/DC adapter from the tool.
When the tool is not in use, storing in a place below 104°F
(40°C) and out of the reach of children.
NOTE
Storing lithium-ion batteries
Make sure the lithium-ion batteries have been fully
charged before storing them.
Prolonged storage (3 months or more) of batteries with
a low charge may result in performance deterioration,
signifi cantly reducing battery usage time or rendering
the batteries incapable of holding a charge.
However, signifi cantly reduced battery usage time
may be recovered by repeatedly charging and using
the batteries two to fi ve times.
If the battery usage time is extremely short despite
repeated charging and use, consider the batteries
dead and purchase new batteries.
8. Replacement of guard
After long-term use, the blade slot in the guard may
widen and require replacement. If the blade slot
should widen, replace the guard with a new one
(Fig. 21). After replacing, make a groove on it.
