12.0 USING THE MACHINE

12.1 Preliminary operations - Preparing the
wheel
• Remove the wheel balancing weights from both sides
of the wheel.
• Remove the valve stem and allow the tyre to com-
pletely deflate.
• Establish from which side the tyre should be
demounted, checking the position of the channel.
• Find the rim locking points.
• Check to see if there are indications of special rim
types, for example types "TD" or "AH". This can help
the locking, bead-breaking, mounting and
demounting operations.
12.2 Bead breaking with lateral blade (only
for versions CB and ST)
After preparing the wheel as described in the para-
graph above, bead-breaking may be carried out as fol-
lows:
1. Position the wheel as shown in Fig. 26 and move
the bead-breaking tool to the rim flange.

2. Press the right pedal to activate the bead-breaking
tool until the bead is detached. If the bead does not
detach first time, repeat the operation at different
points on the tyre until it is completely detached.
3. Repeat the operation on the opposite side of the
tyre.
4. Carefully lubricate the tyre around the full circum-
ference of the bead on both sides. Lack of lubrica-
tion could cause friction between the mounting tool
and the tyre and could damage the tyre and/or the
bead.

12.3 Wheel locking

All rims must be locked on the rubber plate (Fig. 27
pos. 1) through the central hole using the proper lock-
ing device (Fig. 27 pos. 2).
