Operating
2.1 General
The instructions for operating the system assume that it has
been installed completely and has been taken into service.
The following control elements are available:
Handle
The position of the handle determines the position of the rudder.
The front of the handle points in the direction that the ship will
take. The angle of the handle is therefore opposite to that of
the rudder.
As soon as the handle is put at another angle the steering drive
unit will be activated immediately in order to set the rudder to
the corresponding angle.
Push button 'Stand-by'
- Switching the Follow-Up steering on and off
- Rudder calibration, together with the 'Set' button
Push button 'Set'
- Changing steering position, taking over
- Setting rudder trimming
- Rudder calibration, together with the 'Stand-by' button
Where there is more than one steering position a distinction
must be made between an active and a passive steering posi-
tion.
The rudder can only be controlled from an active steering posi-
tion. If you wish to control the rudder from a passive steering
position this must first be activated.
The LED on the active steering position is on continuously and
at a passive steering position the LED flashes on and off.
It is possible to block changing from the main steering position
to another one by means of an external master switch. (See
section 2.5).
