4.2 Setting maximum rudder deflection

The manufacturer's setting for the maximum deflection is 20
degrees for both port and starboard.
This can be set to a different value in the following way:
Switch on the power. The Follow-Up system must be on 'Stand-
by'! Therefore do not activate any handles or switch on
autopilot in auto mode.
Use manual control to move
the rudder to the maximum
starboard position required.
Hold switch (1) on the control
unit pressed in for about 3
seconds until the buzzer in
the control unit bleeps once.
Use manual control to move
the rudder to the maximum
port position required.
Hold switch (1) on the control
unit pressed in for about 3
seconds until the buzzer in
the control unit bleeps twice
Both maximum rudder deflections are now saved in the memory
and will be retained when the Follow-Up steering system is
switched on.
Always keep the tiller away from the swinging rudder
while setting the maximum deflection for the Follow-Up
steering system.

If the rudder moves in the wrong direction switch off the power
and change over the connecting wires to the (reversible) motor
or the solenoid valves.
Check the working of the steering drive unit again.

4.4. Compensation for the steering drive unit

When the rudder nears the desired position it may be necessary
to slow down the drive unit (with reversible motor) in order not
to have the rudder shoot past the required position.
The Follow-Up steering system slows down the drive unit by
switching the reversible motor on and off rapidly (PWM).
For an EHP with continuously rotating motor select 'Slow down
switched off'.
The manufacturer's setting is 'Slow down switched on'.
The slow down function can
be switched on or off by
pressing switch (2) on the
control unit:
- one short bleep 'Slow
down switched on'.
- two short bleeps 'Slow
down switched off'.
