4.0 MAINTENANCE

The various servicing operations are listed in the following para-
graphs. Lower running costs and longer machine life depend on
constant and methodical compliance with these operations.
The maintenance periods listed in this booklet are only indi-
cative and are for on normal conditions on use, therefore be
varied depending the kind of service, the more or less dusty
surroundings, seasonal factors, etc. For more serious con-
ditions of service, maintenance will logically be done more
often.
All operations must be carried out by expert personnel,
equipped with protective gloves, in a clean and dust-free
environment.
All maintenance operations must be carried out with the ma-
chine hooked up to the tractor, the parking brake engaged,
the engine off, the ignition key removed and the equipment
sitting on suitable supports on the ground.
ATTENTION
USING OILS AND GREASES
- Before injecting grease, the nipples must be cleaned to avoid
mud, dustand foreign bodies from mixing with the grease,
otherwise they will reduce or even annul the effect of the
lubrication.
- Always keep oils and grease out of reach of children.
- Always read warnings and precautions indicated on the
containers carefully.
- Avoid skin-contact.
- After use wash the equipment thoroughly.
- Treat the used oils and polluting liquids in conformity with
the laws in force.

RECOMMENDED LUBRICANTS

- For lubrication in general, we advise: OIL SAE 80W/90.
- For all greasing points we advise: AGIP GR MU EP 2 GREASE
or equivalent (speci¿ cations: DIN 51825 (KP2K)).

4.1 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

- During the ¿ rst working hours, check that the screws are tight
(Fig. 35).
EVERY 2 WORK HOURS
- Grease points (A-B-C, Fig. 32).
WEAR-PROOF SKIDS (OPTIONAL)
In the presence of abrasive terrain (rocky, sandy, etc.) wear-proof
skids can be provided on request to protect the cutterbar.
External wear-proof skids are available in all versions (D-E, Fig
33), whereas, the central wear-proof skid is also applied only in
the versions with a cutting width of L. 2.05 and L. 2.35 (F, Fig 33).
They can be adjusted in 3 different positions to obtain 3 different
cutting heights.
It is important to set all the wear-proof skids to the same position,
which corresponds to the same cutting height.
When adjusting the central wear-proof skid, pay utmost attention
to the precise mounting of the adjustment deÀ ector to obtain the
correct cutting height.
