4.1.6.1.1.1. Pre-filter maintenance

Apply the following procedure to clean and lubricate the pre-filter, as recommended in the maintenance schedule. Clean and
lubricate the pre-filter at more regular intervals if the operating conditions are very dusty or full of particles.
1. Open the door of the enclosure.
2. Move the main switch on the generating set to "OFF/RESET".
3. Isolate the battery charger from its electrical power supply.
4. Disconnect the battery cables, negative (-) first.
5. Unscrew the knurled button mounting from the cover, then remove the cover. Remove the pre-filter from the paper filter
element. Clean the pre-filter in a basin of warm water mixed with detergent. Carefully rinse the pre-filter until all traces of
detergent have been removed. Remove all the excess water from the pre-filter by spin drying it (do not wring it). Leave the
pre-filter to dry in the open air.
6. Soak the pre-filter in fresh engine oil. Remove all the excess oil by spin drying it.
After cleaning the filter, see the section on "Paper filter element maintenance".
7. Refit the pre-filter on the paper filter element
8. Refit the air filter cover. Screw the knurled button back onto the cover.
9. Switch back on the electrical power supply to the battery charger.
10. Reconnect the generating set engine starter battery, negative (-) lead last.

4.1.6.1.1.2. Paper filter element maintenance

Apply the following procedure to replace the paper filter element as recommended in the maintenance schedule. Replace the paper
filter element more often if operating conditions are very dusty or full of particles.
1. Open the door of the enclosure.
2. Move the main switch on the generating set to "OFF/RESET".
3. Isolate the battery charger from its electrical power supply.
4. Disconnect the generating set engine starter battery, negative (-) lead first.
5. Unscrew the knurled button mounting from the cover, then remove the cover.
6. Remove the nut from the element cover, the element cover, then the paper filter element with the pre-filter.
7. Separate the pre-filter from the paper filter element.
Note: do not clean the paper filter element with compressed air or liquid as this completely destroys the filtering properties.
8. Replace the element if it is clogged, deformed or damaged.
9. Check the air filter base. Ensure that it is correctly mounted and that it is not deformed or damaged. Also check that the
element cover is correctly fitted and that it is not damaged. If any part of the air filter is damaged, replace it.
10. Clean any accumulated debris and deposits from the air filter base. Carefully wipe the base using a cloth to prevent particles
from falling into the intake duct. Check the condition of the rubber gasket to ensure that the seal around the air filter stud is
sound, and replace the seal if necessary.
11. Refit the paper filter element, the pre-filter, the element cover, the cover nut, then the air filter cover. Screw the knurled button
back onto the cover.
12. Switch back on the electrical power supply to the battery charger.
13. Reconnect the generating set engine starter battery, negative (-) lead last.
