Deploy Padlock Clip
See Figure 10.
Note: A firm, rapid thrust, provides the best results.
o
Maintain visualization of the clip and desired deployment area at all times.
o
The deployed clip should be seen directly in the endoscopic field of view.
Inspect the clip placement endoscopically.
o
o
Some defects may require the application of another clip to help close. Either a second Padlock Clip
system clip can be used or a separate through the endoscope option.
If the application of a second Padlock Clip
first.
Applying a second clip on top of or over the first clip may lead to mal-deployment of the second clip.
Caution:
o
Using device with larger diameter endoscopes may inhibit clip deployment in a tortuous configuration. Make sure
to use smallest endoscope allowable if a retroflexed position is necessary.
If a larger diameter endoscope is required, use a firm, rapid thrust of the Thumb Actuator for the best results.
Lesions located in the esophagus and the lesser curvature of the stomach may be difficult to treat with a forward viewing
o
endoscope and may require several clip placements.
o
Clipping hardened or severely fibrotic lesions to achieve hemostasis may be more difficult and may require, if possible, the
removal of the avascular tissue.
Mechanical abrasion techniques may be warranted to expose healthier tissue to potentiate healing and achieve
satisfactory results.
o
Re-bleeding may occur if clip detaches.
o
The use of clips in the presence of bacterial contamination may potentiate or prolong infection.
Although rates of occurrence are low, recurrent bleeding, ineffective clipping or endoscopic complications could result in
o
the need for surgery.
