Grounding the Fuel Save Controller

Cable requirements:

☐ Conductor cross-section: 16 mm
☐ Conductor material: Copper
Procedure:
1. Insert the cable into the Fuel Save Controller (see Section 9.1, page 47).
2. Strip the cable.
3. Strip the cable insulation by 15 mm to 18 mm. When doing so, ensure that no pieces of cable fall into the
enclosure.
4. Connect the insulated conductor to the connecting terminal plate X100 at terminal 1, 2 or 3. Only if the
conductor is a stranded wire, additionally pretension the spring of the spring-cage terminal using a screwdriver
(see Section 9.2, page 48).
5. Make sure that the insulated conductor is securely attached.

Connecting the Supply Voltage

In backup systems, the utility grid is integrated into the PV diesel hybrid system as the AC source. In the event of a utility
grid failure, the inverter and the gensets take over supply of the loads.
Power supply failure in the photovoltaic diesel hybrid system due to interruption of the supply voltage
at the Fuel Save Controller
If the supply voltage of the Fuel Save Controller is interrupted (e.g. firmware update) during operation, a system
failure of the Fuel Save Controller may occur. This system failure can lead to power supply failure in the photovoltaic
diesel hybrid system.
• Ensure that the supply voltage of the Fuel Save Controller is never interrupted during operation. To do this, use
an uninterruptible power supply with 30 minutes bridging time.
Destruction of the Fuel Save Controller due to overvoltage
The Fuel Save Controller is designed for a voltage supply of up to 260 V. An input voltage of more than 260 V can
lead to the destruction of the components in the Fuel Save Controller.
• Design the voltage supply of the Fuel Save Controller so that the maximum input voltage of 260 V is never
exceeded.
• Install a surge arrester in accordance with local standards and directives if an overvoltage cannot be ruled out.
