6 Electrical Connection
• Select a suitable cable entry on the flange plate of the Data Acquisition Module and break through using a
sharp object. Here, the resulting hole must be smaller than the diameter of the cable (see
Data Acquisition Module installation manual).
• Open the plug of the optical fiber and lead the two optical fibers through the cable entry in the
Data Acquisition Module enclosure. Here, the cable entry in the flange plate must fully enclose the optical
fiber
• Remount the plug with the two optical fibers.
• Clean optical surfaces (e.g. front side of the plug). For this purpose, use a cleaner with bound nitrogen (e.g.
methyl or ethyl alcohol).
• Connect the duplex plug to pin connector 1 or 2 on the network switch K31 of the Data Acquisition Module.
Make sure the transmission direction is correct.
3. Make sure that all unused pin connectors are sealed with protective caps.

Connect external communication network
With external communication, you have access to the user interface of the Fuel Save Controller and to the integrated
FTP server and you can connect the Fuel Save Controller to an external control station or the SMA Remote Service.
When connecting a network cable for external communication, connect the cable as follows.

Interference of network data transmission due to AC cables
When AC cables are in operation, they generate an electromagnetic field which may induce leading or lagging
interference in network cables during data transmission.
• Lay the network cables using suitable fastening material while observing a minimum clearance of 50 mm to
the AC cables.
Cable requirements:
☐ Conductor cross-section: at least 2 x 2 x 0.22 mm
☐ Cable type: 100BaseTx, at least CAT5e with shielding S/FTP, F/FTP or higher
☐ Cable length for installation cable: maximum 100 m
☐ Cable length for patch cable: maximum 50 m
☐ Cables to be laid outdoors must be UV-resistant or routed in a UV-resistant cable channel.
