SMA Solar Technology AG
7 Preparing for Commissioning
Commissioning is to be performed by Service employees only
Commissioning of the Fuel Save Controller may only be performed by SMA Solar Technology AG Service
employees or by qualified persons who were trained in the commissioning of PV diesel hybrid system with FSC-20-
M by SMA Solar Technology AG.
Procedure:
1. Ensure that the Fuel Save Controller is correctly mounted and connected.
2. Ensure that the neutral conductor and the grounding conductor are not connected at the connecting terminal plate
X200 when measuring voltage without a voltage converter in a four-conductor utility grid (see Section 6.7.3
"Connecting the Voltage Measurement", page 32).
3. Ensure that the neutral conductor and the grounding conductor are bridged at the connecting terminal plate
X200 when measuring voltage via a voltage converter in a four-conductor utility grid (see Section 6.7.3
"Connecting the Voltage Measurement", page 32).
4. Ensure that the neutral conductor and the grounding conductor are bridged at the connecting terminal plate
X200 when measuring voltage in a three-conductor utility grid (see Section 6.7.3 "Connecting the Voltage
Measurement", page 32).
5. Ensure that the jumpers are unplugged at all connected terminals of the X700 connecting terminal plate (see
Section 6.7.2 "Connect the current transformer", page 29).
6. Ensure that the red jumpers are plugged into all unconnected terminals of the X700 connecting terminal plate
(see Section 6.7.2 "Connect the current transformer", page 29).
7. Ensure that all jumpers are plugged into the correct position at the connecting terminal plate X701 (see
Section 6.6 "Connecting the Analog Inputs", page 25).
8. Ensure that both rotary switches on the programmable logic controller K100 are set to the correct position: the
upper rotary switch to position 0 and the lower rotary switch to position RUN.
9. Lock the Fuel Save Controller using the switch cabinet key.
10. Ensure that the following products are operational at the time of commissioning of the Fuel Save Controller:
• All gensets with their corresponding control units
• PV power plant (see PV inverter documentation)
• If installed, the synchronization control for switching to the utility grid
• If installed, the superordinate control and monitoring
• If installed, the storage system (see documentation of the battery inverter)
• If installed, the Data Acquisition Module
11. Ensure that the following persons are reachable and available at the time of commissioning of the Fuel Save
Controller:
• Responsible installer of the Fuel Save Controller
• Qualified person responsible for operation and control of the gensets
• Qualified person responsible for the connected IT systems and the data protocols used
