MAINTENANCE, CLEANING, DISINFECTION AND STERILISATION
Please follow the maintenance, cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation instructions.
Cable: Inspect the white cables and your file grip at least once every six months. To test your leads, take each end of the
lead and pull gently by moving your hands apart. If the lead produces an elastic effect, replace it. Clean the cables and
outer surfaces of the device using a soft cotton cloth lightly moistened with an aldehyde-free cleaning and disinfectant
solution (bactericidal and fungicidal). Remove the labial electrode and file grip from the cable before cleaning.
Accessories: The labial electrode, file grip and contra-angle need to be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised before their
first use and before each subsequent use. Thorough cleaning and disinfection are crucial for effective sterilisation. For
cleaning/disinfecting, follow the instructions given in the "Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilisation" chapter. Please also
consult the user manuals of the devices.
Contra-angle: the contra-angle may be cleaned and disinfected in a suitable cleaning and disinfection device. Refer to the
user manual of the device in question. Make sure that the contra-angle is clean. In case of contamination, repeat the pro-
cess. Refer to the Contra-angle cleaning and lubrication paragraph after every pre-treatment and before every sterilisation.
Never immerse the contra-angle in a disinfectant solution or an ultrasonic bath.
For your safety: Always wear gloves, a mask and safety glasses when handling contaminated accessory parts. Before
each use of the contra-angle, check the mechanical strength of the canal file (risk of the file coming off and falling into the
patient's throat. The use of the dam helps avoid this problem).
INFORMATION
The use of substances other than those described above can cause damage to the device and its accessory parts. Only
use a steam-heat autoclave at 134° (18 minutes), prion cycle. The MM.CONTROL console is not sealed. It is therefore
recommended not to spray any liquid directly onto the console, especially on the display and electrical sockets. The device
cannot be sterilised. Do not spray cleaning products on the console.
CLEANING, DISINFECTION AND STERILISATION (EN ISO 17664)
After use on a patient, all residues must be removed from the accessory parts immediately (within 2 hours or less). Do not
leave them to dry! Clean the accessory parts under running water or in a disinfectant solution to remove all visible contam-
inants. The disinfectant should be aldehyde-free (aldehyde sets blood stains), tested for effectiveness (FDA-approved, CE
certified or other) and it must be compatible with the accessory parts referred to in the 'Material Durability' chapter.
When removing contaminants manually, use only clean, soft and clean brushes or cloths used solely for this purpose. Do
not use a metal brush.
To clean the inside of the file grip, open and close the mechanism several times during cleaning. Please note that disin-
fectants used during pre-treatment are only for personal protection and are not a substitute for post-cleaning disinfection.
However, pre-treatment must still be carried out before each sterilisation.
When selecting cleaning and disinfection solutions, make sure that:
• they are intended for use in cleaning and disinfecting instruments.
• the effectiveness of the disinfectant has been tested (FDA-approved or CE-certified) and that it is compatible with the
cleaning solution.
• the chemical products used are compatible with the accessory parts mentioned in the "Material durability" chapter.
A combination of cleaning/disinfectant solutions should only be used if the instruments are only slightly contaminated (no
visible contamination). Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the cleaning and disinfectant solutions re-
garding concentration, application time and rinsing.

CLEANING PROCEDURE

1. Remove any visible residues using a soft brush or soft cloth.
2. To thoroughly clean the inside of the file grip, open and close the mechanism several times during cleaning.
3. For the contra-angle, once any visible residues have been removed, clean and lubricate the internal mechanisms using
the lubrication adapter (Refer to the contra-angle cleaning and lubrication paragraph).
DISINFECTION
1. Place the pre-cleaned labial electrode in the bath for the stipulated application time; make sure that the electrode is
