grass cuttings from the mower
housing. Use a suitable implement
such as a broom or dustpan brush.
To empty the grass catcher once
removed, hold it by the handle with
one hand and with the other hand
in the rear recess, tip the grass
cuttings out of the large opening
at the front.

6. Maintenance, Care and Storage

6.1. Maintenance
Maintenance covers all work that
keeps your lawnmower in good
working order. You can prevent
accidents and failure of parts by
checking your lawnmower regularly
(check that the bolted connections
are secure, check for cracks
and damage) and by replacing
damaged or worn parts.
Repairs must only be carried out
by the service centres authorised by
the manufacturer or authorised
specialist dealers. A service centre
directory is supplied with your
lawnmower.
Warning! Always unplug
A
the spark plug connector
before carrying out all work and
repairs on your lawnmower.
Otherwise there is a risk of injury.
Check the grass catching device
regularly for wear or reduced
function. Replace defective
silencers. For safety reasons,
always replace worn or damaged
parts.
Never clean your lawnmower
under running water and in
particular never using a high-
pressure water jet due to the
danger of injury to people and
property.
Store your lawnmower in a dry
place that is protected from frost.
Figure K
After emptying the grass catcher
fit it back into the holders
provided and tilt back the multi-
function box.
Warning! The cutting tool
A
does not start rotating while
the multi-function box is open.
Move the handle back to the work-
ing position and ensure it snaps
into place. Take care not to trap the
Bowden cables.
Store your lawnmower out of the
reach of children.
Do not tip the motor onto the spark
plug side/carburettor side.
Observe the notes on installation
for exchanging the blade.
Maintenance on Wheel Drive
Figure M item 1
The gears run without maintenance
in a sealed oil bath. The wheel
drive clutch cable can be readjust-
ed if the clutch is acting too late or
is slipping. To adjust the cable,
turn the actuating wheel clockwise
from the operator's side. To ease it,
turn the actuating wheel anti-clock-
wise from the operator's side.
6.2. Exchanging the Blade
Please only use original replace-
ments blades supplied by the
manufacturer. Original replacement
blades are available from your
specialist dealer.
Never use replacement parts or
accessories not supplied by the
manufacturer.
If the cutter bar is damaged, it
must be replaced due to the
associated problems with
imbalance. For safety reasons,
the cutter bar must only be
replaced at the service centres
approved by the manufacturer
or by specialist dealers.
Warning! Only attach the
A
grass catcher when the
motor is switched off and the
cutting tool has stopped rotating.
Mowing without the Grass Catcher
The Brill silencio lawnmower is
ideal for mowing long grass.
If you mow your lawn without the
grass catcher the grass cuttings are
distributed evenly over the lawn
from the high rear grass ejection
chute.
6.3. Maintenance Work on the
Motor
(Please read the notes provided by
the motor manufacturer. The origi-
nal operating instructions are sup-
plied with your lawnmower.)
Oil Change
Warning! Always change
A
the oil when the motor is
warm, the fuel tank is empty and
closed with the fuel cap.
Briggs & Stratton Motor and
Honda GCV Motor
The oil must be changed for the
first time after 5 operating hours.
Additional oil changes are then
required every 50 operating hours.
If you do not operate your lawn-
mower for 50 hours within 1 year,
change the oil at the end of the
mowing season. To do this, open
the oil filler pipe and tilt the mower
so that the old oil can run out into
a collector. Dispose of the old oil
properly according to local regula-
tions. Stand your mower so that it is
horizontal again and fill with motor
oil SAE 30 (see Point 4, Putting
Your Lawnmower into Operation).
