1.4 WARNING
WARNING!
Failure to comply with the directions could result in serious injury and even death.
1.4.1 Receiving
A visual inspection - internal and external - should be performed immediately upon receiving the ABW Compact
before removing it from the truck. The transportation documents should be checked to ensure that all boxes or
accompanying parts have been received. If any damage or fault is evident, a complaint against the carrier should
be immediately submitted to the nearest WEG sales office. Complaints of missing items or other errors must be
submitted in writing to WEG within 30 days from the receipt of the ABW Compact. Failure to do so constitutes
unconditional acceptance and waiver of all such complaints by the buyer.
1.4.2 Handling
Removable lifting lugs are provided on top of the ABW Compact frame for fitting hooks to lift the entire structure.
This is the only recommended method for moving the structure of the ABW Compact. Extreme care must be
taken not to damage or deform the unit if other handling methods are employed.
1.4.3 Storing
If you need to store the equipment before installation, keep it in a clean and dry place with intense air circulation
and heat to prevent condensation. Like all electrical devices, these units contain insulation that must be protected
against dirt and moisture. External units can be stored outdoors only if the covers are installed, the space heaters
energized and all openings closed.
1.4.4 Lifting instructions
1. Do not route cables or ropes through the lifting holes.
2. Always use load-dimensioned shackles or safety hooks in the lifting holes.
3. Place the lifting sling so that its legs are no less than 45 degrees from the horizontal.
1.4.5 Handling
A crane or hoist can also be used to handle the circuit breaker if the lifting device is not available. If a forklift is
used, the following precautions must be taken when moving the circuit breakers:
1. Keep the circuit breaker in an upright position only.
2. Make sure the load is properly balanced on the forks.
3. Place protective material between the circuit breaker and the forklift to prevent bending or scratching.
4. Firmly secure the circuit breaker to the forklift to prevent sliding or tilting.
5. Excessive speeds, jerks, sudden stops, and swerves must be avoided when handling the breaker.
6. Lift the circuit breaker just enough to avoid obstacles on the floor.
7. Take care to avoid collisions with structures, other equipment or personnel when moving the breaker.
8. Never lift a circuit breaker over an area with people.
