Laparoscopic Manual Instruments
Warnings
To avoid potential serious injury to the user and the
patient and/or damage to this device, the user must
obey the following warnings:
1. The selected output setting of the ESU generator,
when used with Laparoscopic Instruments, should
be set in accordance with the clinician's experience,
training, or by reference to appropriate clinical
references.
2. Use caution when handling the instruments as the
insert tip may be sharp.
3.
Do not exceed 10,000 Volts Peak-to-Peak.
4. To prevent the unintentional flow of electricity,
activate the electrode when only the end of
the insert is in contact with tissue. Keep active
electrodes isolated from the patient when not in
use.
5. Do not use if the electrode is loose or damaged. This
may cause loose parts to enter the surgical field.
6. Before use, ensure that there are no breaks,
chips, cracks, scratches, tears, or missing/loose
components on the shaft insulation, handle, or
housing. Do not use the instrument if any of these
defects are present as this could cause unintended
electrosurgical burns and life-threatening
complications. If damage has occurred, discontinue
use and return the instrument for repair or
replacement.
7. Do not use if plugs are loose or improperly attached.
8. Do not use if the post on the electrode is
incompletely covered by the monopolar cord.
9. Do not use if there is excessive buildup of debris on
the tip during use.
10. Do not use if explosive gas concentrations are
present in the area of use.
11. Do not bend or pry the instruments, and avoid
contacting instruments with metal objects as this
may cause the instruments to break and leave
pieces in the surgical field which may be difficult to
remove. This may also result in electrical shock and/
or unintentional flow of electricity.
12. Do not apply hard rotation or "torquing" of the
instrument with the jaw under load as this may
cause the jaw to break.
13. Test the instrument function prior to use. If there
is any sign of malfunction, the instrument should
not be used and returned to Stryker for repair
evaluation.
14. Only use Ethicon LC300 or LT300 clips with the
10.0 mm Clip-Applying Forceps (P/N 0250-080-558)
to prevent the forceps from jamming.
Cautions
1. Using excessive force to manipulate the instrument
or its handles may cause the instrument jaw and/or
instrument to break.
2. Repair of a Stryker product by any agent other than
Stryker may cause the instrument to fail and/or the
jaw to break.
3.
Federal law (United States of America)
restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a
physician.
