Only use the APC probe if you are familiar with handling the APC
Probe in conjunction with the respective argon plasma coagula-
tor and electrosurgical unit!
5.2 General information about protection of the user,
patient, and product
Do not use in the presence of combustible or explosive materi-
als!
Never lay this product on the patient or in his/her direct vicinity.
Protect this product from any form of mechanical damage! Do
not throw! Do not use force! If there is a cable, and unless stated
otherwise, do not kink it or wrap it around the accompanying
product!
If damaged, do not use this product!
5.3 Risk of fire in the gastrointestinal tract
Before using APC, always ensure that no endogenous gases are
present in the lumen of the relevant organ.
5.4 Danger of fire in the tracheobronchial system
The argon plasma can ignite flammable, combustible materials
(e.g. plastics)! Ignition can only occur though if there is also a
fire-supporting gas present, such as oxygen, or it is mixed with
the argon and applied to the combustible materials. This partic-
ularly applies to highly concentrated oxygen or pure oxygen. For
this reason it is absolutely imperative that you observe the fol-
lowing rules:
• Before and particularly during APC, never introduce oxygen
to the tracheobronchial system. This also applies to other
combustible or fire-supporting gases and liquids.
