Mounting the interceptor: 1-17
From transom side:
Check that the area where the interceptor will be lo-
1
cated is flat to the nearest 1 mm in every direction.
The hull surface area for the support template's double-
sided adhesive tape must be clean and dust free for good
adhesion.
IMPORTANT! Make sure there is room for the servo in
the engine compartment and that the chosen location for
the servo shaft conforms to the boat's plan drawings.
Cut the drill template along the dimension line for the
2
selected model. Tape over the holes for the shaft that will
not be used.
Make a cut or notch in the template for any parts
3
protruding from the hull so that the template forms a good
seal against the bottom.
Remove the protective strip from the double-sided
4
tape and press the support template onto the bottom of
the boat. Follow the template markings. Reinforce the
stamped holes with tape.
Place the drill template on the support template's
5
protruding part. Tape it to the transom. Do not press the drill
template down onto the support template. Use a pen to
mark out the holes for drilling in the transom.
Remove the templates and drill holes through the
6
hull for the support bolts, and a pilot hole for the servo
shaft.
Use of a drill jig is recommended.
Center the hole saw over the servo shaft pilot hole.
7
Drill through the transom using a high-quality hole saw.
Use of a drill jig is recommended.
Even out and seal the inside of the servo shaft hole as
8
necessary. Use a fine, round file or abrasive paper.
IMPORTANT! Make sure the area surrounding the hole is
smooth and even both inside and outside of the hull.
The area acts as a counterhold for the servo shaft O-ring
(sealing against water entry) and requires the shaft nut to
seal properly against the shaft nut (engine compartment)
and O-ring (hull).
Apply sealant sparingly in the servo shaft hole so that its
diameter is preserved.
Allow to dry.
Test install
the interceptor (without sealant).
Follow steps

NOTE! Two people are required for this procedure.
Press the servo shaft in place through the hull and
9
screw on the shaft nut (a) by hand.
When torquing the shaft, measure against the installa-
10
tion tool as illustrated (b). Torque the retaining bolts.
Check turning resistance by turning over the installa-
11
tion tool as illustrated.
Check interceptor blade range of movement from the
12
hull side.
a) Remove the interceptor unit.
13
b) Apply Sikaflex or similar marine sealant along the
13
base of the shaft and along the lower channel in the
interceptor.
IMPORTANT! Fill the channel cavities to excess and
begin final installation before the sealant bead is fully dry.
IMPORTANT! Make sure sealant does not get on to the
interceptor blade.
Apply vaseline to the attachment bolts before final mount-
ing.
c) Final installation. Follow steps
13
IMPORTANT! Remove excess sealant from the
interceptor unit and hull before it dries.
NOTE! The flange can be rotated 360° for optimal
14
clearance for the servo in the engine compartment.
Attach the flange (c) and fasten it to the servo shaft with
the three bolts supplied (d).
Place the servo on the flange. Fasten the servo using
15
the three bolts supplied (e).
IMPORTANT! Do not use pneumatic or electrically-driven
tools as these may cause the bolts to be over-tightened,
damaging the interceptor unit.
Servo installation in engine compartment complete.
16
Install the ICM (Interceptor Control Module) as close
17
to the center of the boat as possible with the Volvo Penta
label facing out.
NOTE! Install vertically ±3° and horizontally.
Check using a spirit level.
Connect the servo cable to the control unit. Follow cable
color coding. Connect the power cable to the service bat-
tery via a switch. One of the two Aux is connected to the
engine harness AUX BUS.
The other AUX must be fitted with a cable termination
