Functions of the PipeLaser
Automatic Levelling
After switching on or after a position change, the
measuring tool checks the horizontal and vertical posi-
tion, and automatically compensates irregularities
within the self-levelling range.
This function is independent of the grade setting and
the lateral alignment.
During levelling, both the laser beam and the symbol
for laser power flash.
The measuring tool is levelled as soon as the laser
beam and the symbol for laser power are continuously
visible.
The lateral axis is levelled when the spirit level symbol
is displayed in the standard indication (see "Standard
Indication of the PipeLaser", page 30).
Level-monitoring
The level-monitoring indicates when the measuring
tool is no longer in the starting position, and thus pro-
tects against measuring errors.
After switching on, the measuring tool always starts in
the same mode that it was operating in before switch-
ing off:
"ON LINE ALERT"
or
"OFF LINE ALERT"
After the level-monitoring function has been selected,
it is activated after approx. 30 seconds upon auto-
matic levelling of the measuring tool.

After a position change of the measuring tool, the
laser beam flashes twice every second following a one
second pause.
– Check your reference mark (see "Sighting Out a
Reference Mark", page 35) to ensure the the
measuring tool is still correctly positioned.
Realign the measuring tool again to your reference
mark, if required.
– Press button 21.
This confirms the level-monitoring; the measuring
tool returns back to the set operation mode and
the standard indication is displayed again.
Activating/deactivating the level-monitoring during
operation:
– Press button 18.
The main menu is displayed.
– Press button 18 again within 3 seconds.
– Switch back and forth between the function
"ON LINE ALERT" and "OFF LINE ALERT" with
button 21.
– Press button 18 again to confirm the entry.
The main menu is displayed again.
Plumb Point
The plumb point (illuminated with LED 5) is used as a
reference for sighting with a plumb bob or with optical
instruments. It marks the pivot point of the laser beam.
LED 5 is continuously lit while the measuring tool is
switched on.
Operation
Do not point the laser beam at persons or
animals and do not look into the laser beam
yourself, not even from a large distance.
Do not leave the switched on measuring tool
unattended and switch the measuring tool
off after use. Other persons could be blinded by
the laser beam.
Grade Adjustment
The laser beam grade can be adjusted within a range
from +40 % to – 15 %.
The standard indication (see "Standard Indication of
the PipeLaser", page 30) shows the value of the set
grade.
The laser beam is horizontally aligned (no deviation
upward or downward from the axis centre) when
00.000 % is indicated.
Note: When the possibility of changing the setting
was locked (see "Locking Settings", page 32), grade
adjustment is not possible.
