8 Charging and Battery Procedures
The DynamicArm is powered by an integrated high-quality Li-Ion battery with sufficient capacity to operate
for one full day of usual everyday activities. Turning the DynamicArm off during longer periods of passive use
(e.g. air or train journey, visit to a theater or cinema etc.) will make the battery's capacity last longer. We re-
commend charging the product once a day when used by the patient on a daily basis. An electronic "battery
manager" informs the patient of the remaining battery capacity (see Section 8.5).
8.1 Scope of Delivery
The charging unit consists of a battery charger with charging plug and a mains cable. Please also observe
the battery charger's Instructions for Use.
INFORMATION
If bent excessively, it may not be possible to connect the charging plug. For easier insertion of the charging
plug, bring the prosthesis to extension, switch it off, lock it using the cable control and take it off before char-
ging the battery.
8.2 Charging Process
INFORMATION
If bent excessively, it may not be possible to connect the charging plug. For easier insertion of the charging
plug, bring the prosthesis to extension, switch it off, lock it using the cable control and take it off before char-
ging the battery.
1) Make sure that the DynamicArm is extended and turned off.
2) Make sure that the DynamicArm is locked by means of the
cable control.
3) Take off the DynamicArm.
4) Attach the mains cable to the battery charger.
5) Gently insert the charging plug into the charging receptacle
(Figure). Do not force it in!
6) Plug the mains cable into a wall socket. If the LED shows
an orange light, the battery is charging. If the LED shows
a green light with depleted battery, the charging plug has not been inserted correctly. Repeat from step 3.
7) If the LED shows a green light, this indicates that the battery is fully charged.
8) Disconnect the mains cable of the battery charger from the wall socket. Disconnect the charging plug
from the DynamicArm.
8.3 Charging Times
The charging time until the battery is fully charged is approx. 4 hours.
8.4 Explanation of the Battery Capacity Indicator
The battery charger has a battery capacity indicator LED:
LED shows orange light:
LED shows green light:
8.5 "Battery Manager"
Electronic battery management helps the patient maintain the functions of individual prosthetic components
as long as possible as the battery charge level drops.
Level 1
Level 2
DynamicArm
Battery is charging.
Charging process is finished and the battery is fully charged.
The DynamicArm and the connected prosthesis combinations move with maximal
speed and power.
The flexion force of the DynamicArm becomes weaker, the DynamicArm "fatigues".
The functions of the connected prosthetic components remain intact.
