Notes on clipping poodles
de
· Preliminary work around the head:
Using the 2 mm blade set, start to clip from the nose to the outer edge of the ear and back,
en
cutting against the direction of hair growth, clip the lower jaw against the direction of hair
growth, taking care around the lip fold! Clip from the lower base of ear, across the side of
fr
the neck to the edge of the shoulder blade and from the lower jaw to the tip of the chest
bone in the direction of hair growth. The cutting length adjustment depends on the hair
colour and structure.
it
· Body (Fig. 8):
es
Using attachment comb no. 3 (10 mm), clip the back, starting from the neck to the root of
the tail, clipping the width of the cutting blade. Then clip from behind the last rib, moving
across the lower stomach, clipping the width of the cutting blade.
pt
· Hind legs (Fig. 9):
nl
Start with the delicate work on the hind legs. Using attachment comb no. 8 (25 mm), clip
the hind and front legs. The area between the clipped part of the croup and the longer leg
hair should be rounded off with the animal clipper. On the inside of the hind legs, only clip
sv
the untidy ends of hair, otherwise the animal will look slightly "bow-legged".
no
· Front legs:
Use the clipper to clip the area between the withers and the side of the chest in a slightly
tapered line. Starting from the last rib, clip in a diagonal line across the side of the chest,
fi
shoulder and upper leg as far as the front of the chest. Ensure that there is a smooth transi-
tion to the clipped neck area. Now take another look at the dog "as a whole" and trim any
tr
untidy ends. The cut coat has to look like a fur.
· Head (Fig. 10):
pl
Starting from the base of the ear and the cartilage, a hair length about 1 cm is cut using
attachment comb no. 3 (10 mm). This emphasizes the ear.
cs
· Crown (Fig. 11):
Hold the appliance vertically against the cheek and clip the hair of the crown in a straight
sk
line as far as the base of the ear (do not touch the upper line). Clip in a horizontal line
away from the ear. As you do so, hold the clipper against the cartilage of the ear. Cut the
hu
rear edge of the crown, starting from the neck. Seen from the front, carefully cut a curve,
creating a "roof above the eyes", and cut in a semi-circle to the back of the neck. The figure
sl
illustrates how to do it! When you have finished, the dog should give itself a shake so you
can again check and, if necessary, correct the sit of the crown.
ro
· Root of the tail and paw:
Cut carefully around root of the tail, anal region and lower stomach with attachment comb
bg
no. 3 (10 mm) against direction of hair growth. As a rule, the paws should be clipped after
bathing the animal, when the feet are clean. With a cutting length of 1 mm, the upper side
ru
of the foot, the area between the toes and the lower side between the balls of the foot are
clipped carefully.

Cleaning and Care
· Do not immerse the appliance in water!
· After each use, remove the hair clippings from the blade set with the cleaning brush.
· Only wipe the appliance with a soft cloth, which may be dampened slightly. Do not use sol-
vents or abrasives!
· The blade set can be cleaned with hygienic spray, order no. 4005-7051.
· The 4in1 Blade Ice spray (order no. 2999-7900) delivers instant cooling, oiling and cleaning
of the blade set, while also providing corrosion inhibiting action.
· For a long-lasting, good cutting performance, it is important to oil the blade set frequently
(Fig. 5). Only use blade set oil order no. 0230-1070 (118 ml).
· Blade set oil and hygienic spray is available from your dealer or our Service Centre.
· If the cutting performance deteriorates after long use despite regular cleaning and oiling,
the blade set should be replaced.
· Use the blade guard when the appliance is not in use.
· Always store the appliance with the blade guard in place.
Changing the bottom blade and the top blade
· Switch off the appliance using the on/off switch (Fig. 1b).
· Disconnect from the mains power supply.
· Undo both screws on the blade set; remove the bottom blade and the top blade (Fig. 6).
· When assembling, the bottom blade and the top blade should be aligned as follows (Fig. 7):
· Cutting length adjustment lever in uppermost position – shortest cutting length
(Fig. 3a)
· The distance between the front edge of the bottom blade and the front edge of the top
blade should be between 0.8 mm and 1.6 mm (Fig. 7a).
· The bottom blade and the top blade should be parallel to each other.
· The first tooth of the top blade (from the left) should cover the first tooth of the bottom
blade or be positioned slightly to the left of it (Fig. 7b).
· The outermost tooth of the top blade (on the right) should touch the outermost large
tooth of the bottom blade (on the right)(Fig. 7c).
· Tighten both screws (Fig. 6).
