server is responsible for handling client's request to send and receive data.
MQTT server is referred to as MQTT broker which is located within the
Data Platform. The MQTT client is located within the gateway.
When the gateway wants to send data to the broker, the action is referred to
as "publish".
When the gateway wants to receive data from the broker, the action is
referred to as "subscribe".
How the gateway works
To save energy, the low energy wireless protocol connection between the sensor
and the gateway is established on demand only, except for alarm signals which are
generated if specified thresholds are exceeded.
Accelix™ triggers the gateway to request the sensor to measure a time waveform
signal (TWF).
NOTE: The TWF signal is never stored on the sensor but measured anew when
requested by Accelix™.
Before any vibration or temperature measurements may be taken, the gateway must
be configured. The configuration of the gateway and the measuring sensor takes
place in LIVE-Asset™ Portal.
Hardware description
The gateway has sufficient computing power and connects to Accelix™ via Ethernet
or WiFi. The other interfaces are wireless connection which is used to communicate
with the sensor, and the 24 V DC input terminal.
The gateway can be powered over the Ethernet communication port using Power over
Ethernet (PoE) technology or the gateway can be powered by an external 24 V DC
supply.
PoE is a technology that enables network cables transport both data and electrical
power within a single cable.
NOTE: The power supply infrastructure is the domain of the plant management. The
provided infrastructure will determine form of power supply used.
