| INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The position of the proGAV 2.0 XABO is indi-
cated by an arrow mark. The arrow indicates
the flow direction.
For localisation, the proGAV 2.0 Compass is
placed centrally on the marking of the valve that
needs to be checked. Because of the packag-
ing, the proGAV 2.0 Compass is slightly tilted
on the packaging.
Checking and/or adjusting without unpacking
retains the sterility of the product and the
integrity of the packaging.

The proGAV 2.0 XABO can be safely com-
bined with our range of implantable shunt com-
ponents. We recommend using the Christoph
Miethke GmbH & Co. KG products in combina-
tion with the proGAV 2.0 XABO.
The use of shunt systems with a reservoir
provides options for the withdrawal of cere-
brospinal fluid, administration of drugs and
pressure control.
Thanks to an integrated check valve in the
CONTROL RESERVOIR and the SPRUNG
RESERVOIR, cerebrospinal
pumped towards the valve, thus making it pos-
sible to check the distal part of the shunt sys-
tem as well as the Ventricular Catheter.
During the pump action, access to the Ventricu-
lar Catheter is closed. The use of this Reservoir

does not increase the opening pressure of the
shunt system. Puncturing the Reservoir should
be performed as perpendicular as possible to
the reservoir surface with a maximum cannula
diameter of 0.9 mm. A firm titanium floor pre-
vents the bottom surface from being pierced.
30 punctures are possible without any restric-
tions.
Burrhole Deflector
Because of the tight fit on the Ventricular
Catheter, the Burrhole Deflector makes it pos-
sible to choose the length of catheter penetrat-
ing into the skull prior to implantation. The Ven-
tricular Catheter is deflected at a right angle in
the burr hole (see chapter 4.5.5).
The proGAV 2.0 XABO is supplied as a shunt
system with integrated catheters (internal diam-
eter 1.2 mm, external diameter 2.5 mm).
For a new connection of catheter and connec-
tor, the catheters have to be carefully fixed with
a ligature to the valve's Titanium Connectors.
