6.3
Performing Filtration
Requirement
— The filter unit is vented completely.
— Optional: A filter integrity test is carried out.
— The inlet and outlet tubes are connected.
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to escaping liquid!
Liquid may escape if tubes burst or if there are leaks in the connection areas.
People may be injured as a result.
Observe the maximum operating pressures (see details on the filter
t
unit).
If using an Advanced venting tubing set: Check that the tri-clamp
t
connections are fitted securely and retighten if necessary.
Use a measurement device for pressure monitoring, e.g., Sartorius
t
Sensor Transfer Sets.
Do not leave the process unsupervised.
t
Procedure
To start the filtration process:
t
Check that the venting valve actuator is in the [close] position.
t
Put the inlet valve actuator in the [open] position.
t
Put the outlet valve actuator in the [open] position.
t
Start the filtration flow rate.
t
The filtration process starts.
t
To end the filtration process:
t
Stop the filtration flow rate.
t
Put the inlet valve actuator and outlet valve actuator in the [close]
t
position.
6.4
Performing a Filter Integrity Test
A filter integrity test can be carried out before a filtration process and after
a filtration process: The limit values for the filter integrity test and the test
parameters are specified in the Maxicaps MR data sheet.
Material:
— Pressure Safety Device
— Tri-clamp ½˝
— Filter integrity tester, e.g., Sartocheck 5
— If required: External reference tank
(net volume > 13 L)
