ENGINE OIL FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Follow the procedure below.
1 - Carry out the operation with the engine
off and warm or cold.
2 - Ignition key removed.
3 - Prepare a container under the filter to
collect any leak.
4 - Unscrew the cartridge with suitable
standard wrench and replace it. Clean the
surface of the support in contact with the
oil cartridge with a clean, lint-free cloth.
5 - Lubricate the seal of the new cartridge
before assembling it.
6 - Assemble the new oil cartridge and
manually tighten it until it locks.
Check the oil cartridge tightening
using a torque wrench calibrated at
12.7 Nm.
7 - Turn the engine on and keep it running
at idle speed for approx. five minutes at
a temperature of 70°C - 80°C (158°F -
176°F).
8 - Turn off the engine and remove the
ignition key.
9 - Wait for a few minutes so that all the
oil flows into the sump.
10 - Check the correct oil level and, if
necessary, top it up (see "Engine oil level
check" on page 51).
11 - Start the engine, leave it at idle
speed and with no applied loads, check
for any oil leaks and the oil pressure (see
technical data table on page 14).
12 - Turn off the engine at the end of the
check.

In case of oil leaks and/or non-
compliant oil pressure values (see
technical data table on page 14),
immediately stop the engine and
contact the manufacturer of the vehicle
in which the engine is installed or a
workshop authorised by VM MOTORI
FCA ITALY.
Do not dump any polluting material
in the environment. Carry out their
disposal in compliance with the
relevant legislation in force.
