Procedure for conversion
IMPORTANT
The unit may only be converted once a function check [ → 12] has been
performed and no deficiencies have been found on the unit.
Tip: Sirona recommends calling [ → 43] the "Extended details" before
starting the conversion in order to read out the current parameters from
the unit and storing these as an XML file under the network name of the
unit in the PDATA/.../P2K_Config directory for documentation purposes.
➢ Install the IT package (see GALILEOS / ORTHOPHOS XG 3D
Software Installation technical documentation (REF 61 42 389)). This
can be found on the documentation CD in the IT package.
1. Remove the Pan sensor and move the unit to a comfortable working

position [ → 16].
2. Remove the cover parts [ → 16].
3. Remove the head support and outer ring [ → 19].
4. Remove the old diaphragm unit [ → 20].
5. Remove the old X-ray tube assembly [ → 21].
6. Remove the Pan sensor holder [ → 23].
7. Install the ferrite cores [ → 24].
8. Install the connection socket for cable L13 in the housing [ → 25].
9. Lay light barrier cable L21 and motor cable L20 on the ring in the
brackets of the sliding plate [ → 26].
10. Attach cable ties to secure the spiral springs [ → 27].
11. Install and connect the wires for the rotation unit [ → 28].
12. Install and connect the wires for the 3D module.
13. Insert the 2D sensor.
14. Install and connect the wires for the new XG 3D X-ray tube
assembly [ → 34].
15. Install and connect the wires for the diaphragm unit.
16. Install the outer ring and head support [ → 37].
17. Attach the cover parts [ → 37].

Update the unit software and configure the unit [ → 38].
1. Adjust the FH (Pan) double laser light localizer (see ORTHOPHOS
XG 3D Service Manual, "Repairs → Laser light localizers" chapter).
2. Adjust the MS (Pan) laser localizer (see ORTHOPHOS XG 3D
Service Manual, "Repairs → Laser light localizers" chapter).

Perform a complete unit adjustment or calibration [ → 41].
➢ Complete the unit conversion as described in the chapter entitled
"Final work [ → 42]" .
➢ Dispose of parts which are no longer required as described in the
chapter entitled "Disposal/returns [ → 48]" .
