Installing Temperature Probe
To install the temperature probe, locate the
probe socket in the upper righthand side of
the smoke chamber. Pull out the silicone cap
and insert the plug into the probe socket. Push
the plug into the socket until it is completely
seated.
Insert the pointed end of the probe into the
food. It is generally recommended to insert the
probe into the thickest part of the food, or the
center of the food if it is uniform in thickness.
Tip: Avoid inserting the probe such that it is
contacting bone. Touching bone can yield an
incorrect reading of the internal temperature of
the food.
Before closing the smoker, ensure the probe cord is positioned so that it will not be pinched or trapped
by the door as it closes.
NOTE: The smoker is only compatible with the provided temperature probe. While other probes may
plug into the probe socket, they have not been calibrated to work with your smoker and will likely
provide inaccurate temperature readings.
NOTE: Whenever the temperature probe is removed, it is recommended to replace the silicone plug into
the probe socket to ensure the socket remains clear of particles and creosote.
CAUTION
FOOD SAFE INTERNAL TEMPERATURES
Cook food thoroughly to help protect against foodborne illness. Minimum safe food temperature
recommendations can be found at IsItDoneYet.gov and fsis.usda.gov. Use the provided temperature
probe or a food thermometer to measure food temperatures and check multiple locations.
