BALANCE
This control
serves
to
ad.iust
the
sound to
room
acoustics.
Turning
the control @ from
its
center
position
increases
the volume
of
one
channel
while
reducing
the
volume
of
the
other. The whole
volume
on
both
channels
will
be
maintained.
Stereo/mono switch
The
stereo/mono-switch
places
both
channels
in
parallel.
This
permits
playing a
monaural
record and
facilitates
centering
of
the
stereo
system. Place
the
switch
on
"MONO"
for
listening
to
monaural
recordings;
use
the
"STEREO" position
for
all dual-channel pho-
nograph records. Stereophonic sound
can,
of
course,
only
be
heard
from
dual-channel
signals such
as
stereo phonograph
records, ste-
reo tapes,
or
stereo radio transmission.
Centering stereo
system
Place
the
stereo/mono-switch
in
"MONO"
position.
Adjust
to
medium volume. Adjust
the
balance
control
sot that,
when
directly
in
front
of
the
loudspeaker
set-up,
the
sound
source
appears
to
be
exactly
in
the
center
be-
tween the
two
speakers.
After
switching
over
to
"STEREO",
the
system
is
correctly
set
for
stereophonic
I
istening.
When
playing
monaural records,
it
is
also advi-
sable
to
follow the
same
principle
to
obtain
the
best possible
"stereo" effect.
Ouadrophonic Reproduction
For
quadrophonic
or
four-channel
reproduc-
tion of
records
and,
if
required,
of
radio pro-
grammes,
tape
recordings,
etc.
your unit
offers
the fol lowing
facil ities:
Ouadrophonic Effect
To
achieve
quadrophonic reproduction, this
unit
is equipped
with
a
speaker
matrix which
extracts
the
information
for
the
two
rear
channels
from
the
left/right
signal
of
the
stereo
transmission.
The quadrophonic
effect
makes
reproduction*largely
independent
of the
acou-
stics
of
the
reproduction
room
-
after
con-
nection of
two
additional
speakers,

four-channel
reproduction
are
set up
as
shown
in
Fig.
11 a.
The
front
pair
of
speakers
should
be
connected
to
the
FRONT jacks'and
the
rear
speakers
to
the
REAR jacks. Right
{R) and
left
(L)
are
as
seen
by the
listener,
First
of
all,
set
the
required overall
volume
with
volume
control
@,
For
this
purpose,
the
quadrophonic
control
@
should
be
set
in central
position.
Only
then should
level adjustment
of the two
rear
speakers be
carried
out
according
to
the
listening
position and
type
of
music.
For

classical
music
turn control @
slightly
towards
"minus"

and
for
light
music
towards
"plus".
With
the quadrophonic
cont-
rol
turned
fully
clockwise
(*)
stereo
music
reproduction
will
be obtained
through
both
pairs
of
speakers.
This
is
advisable
for
large
living
rooms,
for
parties
or
fo
r
background
music.

The
signal
coming
from
the pick-up
cartridge
before
the
equalizerlpre-amplifier
is
present
direct
at
this jack.
This
jack
should
only
be
used
if
you wish
to
use
the
record player of
your
HiFi
stereo
system
without
the built-in
amplifier
-
connection
to
the
magnetic pick-
up input
at
a
separate
power
amplifier
or if
you
wish
to
connect
your unit
to
a
CD 4
de-
coder. When
a
decoder
or
separate
amplifier
is
connected,
the
built-in amplifier
is
automati-
cally
switched off
.

This jack
is
intended
for
connection
of
matrix
decoders (SO decoders) and
decoder
amplifiers
for
quadrophonic reproduction

suitably
decoded
records, tapes
and

Technical notes
Cartridge
(pick-up)
The
tollowing
instructions apply
only
if
you
wish
to
replace
the
cartridge supplied
with
one
ol
your own
choosing.
Fitment
of
the
cartridge should be properly
done
by
an authorized Dual
service
dealer.
When
fitting
the
cartridge
use
the
built-in
cartridge
holder
or
another cartridge
holder
(Dual
TK l4,article
No.
2i5
420).
The unit
will
accept
any
cartridge
weighing
from
1
- 9
grammes
and having 112"
spaced
mounting
holes.
1. .To
install
a
cartridge, remove the cartridge
holder
from
the tonearm
by
pressing
the grip
toward
the
rear.
Hold
the
cartridge
holder
or
it
will fall
out
once unlocked.
2.
Fasten
the
cartridge
with
the
help
of
the
accessories
and
jig
supplied
with
the
cartrid-
ge holder Dual
TK

and
the
cartridge.

wear
out
after
a
certain
amount
of
use.
We recommend that
the
diamond stylus should be checked after
playing
about 300
working hours
and
a
sapphire stylus
should
be
checked
after playing
about
30
working hours.
Your
authorized
dealer
will
be glad
to
check
your
stylus
free
of
charge.
A
worn
out
or
damaged
stylus chisels
the
mo-
dulations
in
the
grooves
and
damages
the
record,
