Functionality
Argon knife and needle electrodes (cutting electrodes) can be used with
argon support with essentially all types of monopolar cutting and spray
coagulation current.
An unmodulated cutting current is recommended for gas-based cutting.
To ignite the argon plasma, bring the argon electrode to within
approximately 1 cm from the tissue. During argon-based coagulation, the
distance can be increased to approximately 2 to 2.5 cm without
extinguishing the plasma.

Assembly
Assembly of take-apart argon electrodes
The prepared individual parts of the sliding argon electrodes must be
assembled. The electrode may only be used in the fully assembled state.

In mono-polar HF surgery cutting, respectively
coagulation, of the tissue is made by applying a
highfrequency alternating current which generates
heat. Additionally, Argon flows out of the electrode
to the tissue with Argon-supported HF surgery.
The Argon is ionised by the HF flow and is
electrically conductive. A bridge is formed between
electrode and tissue producing a circuit.
The HF current flows in the ionised Argon beam to
the tissue. The beam distributes over a large area
on the tissue surface. The energy density
distributes on the large area.
The Argon beam stops oxygen influencing the
coagulation sequence.
Therefore, work is possible with the minimum of
surgical fumes and odour.
WARNING
Danger of injury to the patient due to unsterilized Argon
handle and rigid Argon electrodes!
Clean and sterilize the Argon handle and the
corresponding electrodes before use because they are in the
unsterile state when delivered.
