10) TRANSPORT
To prevent unintentional deployments, we recommend switching off the
system when not in use and during transport and transporting the inflator
separately in the transport packaging. It is generally permitted to take the
SKYVEST with the airbag system on aeroplanes, but the system must be
switched off. This is regulated in the IATA (International Air Transport As-
sociation) manual in the dangerous goods regulations under Table 2.3A.
However, you must register the SKYVEST with your airline 14 days before
departure and include it in your booking. Find out how many inflators are
permitted per SKYVEST.
Be sure to request the extract from the IATA handbook from the service
centre responsible in your country so that you can present it at the coun-
ter.
We also strongly recommend that you place the extract from the IATA
manual in your check-in baggage together with the inflator and SKYVEST.
To transport the separate inflator outside the airbag system, always fit it
with the protective cap.
11) MAINTENANCE
The system must be maintained depending on the user. With heavy use,
the system may require maintenance sooner than a year. If the red LED
no longer goes out, maintenance is required. Annual maintenance by the
manufacturer or an expert is required for this PPE Cat 2.
It is recommended that the SKYVEST undergoes an ongoing condition
check between maintenance periods as described below.
