J Pressure arrow buttons
Press plus or minus buttons to increase or decrease
pressure setting. Five available pressure settings from
soft to firm 15 mmHg to 55 mmHg (10 mmHg per
step when using alternating pressure setting, 2 mmHg
when using CLP function = continuous low pressure
settings) . The LEDs illuminate to indicate which of
the five settings is operational.
K Auto mode indicator (not applicable on all models)
The Auto mode function is used when the mattress is
transferred to a new user.
The system starts from a pressure reference value
when calculating the individual pressure setting.
When the user is lying on the mattress the differences
between the "unloaded" and the "loaded" pressure
are compared to a matrix and 1 of 5 pressure steps
is selected. When adjusting the pressure the auto
settings are overruled by the manual settings.
L Warning indicator
Indicates an alert/warning for the product.
The control unit will automatically unlock in the
event of a power failure.

5.3 Using the mattress system
Establishing Pressure (supine / face up position)
1. The system is set up and inflated in static mode.
2. When the system is ready, the auto sensing function
will indicate with a "beep" that the user can lay down
on the mattress.
3. After 10-15 seconds the system has "measured" the
impact the user have on the system and calculated a
pressure setting.
4. The system is now ready to use and will turn to
alternating therapy unless other selections are made.
5. If further adjustments are needed, the pressure settings
can be altered with the pressure arrow buttons.
6. Assess whether the patient is comfortable and the
system is functioning correctly by performing a
'bottoming out' test.
The system runs on the chosen setting but when
the user changes and stays in a new position the
pressure in the mattress can adjust (higher/lower).
The sensor in the control unit will react and adjust
the pressure if required to compensate for the new
position.
Bottoming Out Test
When altering the pressure setting, ensure the patient is not
'bottoming out' (insufficiently supported by the air cells and
therefore coming in contact with bed base).
1. Ensure system is in alternation mode but is not
undergoing an alternation.
2. With the patient lying in a supine position, unzip top
cover just past sacral (bottom) region.
