11.2 WHEEL CLAMPLING
IMPORTANT!
During mounting and demounting, the well (the deepest part of the rim least distant from the outer
edge) must be at the top. Check the position of the well during bead breaking to ascertain whether the
wheel is a standard rim or a reverse type rim.
1) Check to make sure there are no weights on the rim.
2) Apply tyre lubricant on the bead.
3) The rim can be clamped on the table top from the inside or the outside
WARNING!
When clamping a tyre, NEVER have your hands under the tyre.
To clamp the tyre correctly, position the wheel exactly at the centre of the table top (2, Fig. H).
Check to be certain that the wheel is correctly clamped by all four grippers.
RIM CLAMPED FROM THE OUTSIDE (wheels from 10-20")
WARNING!
On UHP or RUN-FLAT tyres, the working capacity is limited to a max diameter of 19" and Max rim well
of 8.5.
WARNING: To avoid marking the rim, it is advisable to lock the alloy rims only from the outside, after
mounting the appropriate guards on the clamps.
Press the pedal (5, Fig. H) to the middle position to position
the 4 sliding clamps (6, Fig. H) so that the reference on
the table top is more or less in line with the tyre diameter
stamped on the sliding clamp.
Place the wheel on the table top and push down on the
wheel while depressing the pedal (5, Fig. H) all the way to
clamp the wheel.
RUN-FLAT OR LOW PROFILE (UHP) TYRE
WARNING
When working on UHP or self supporting
run-flat tyres it is always recommended
to use the external locking of the rim
even with alloy rims.
WARNING
When working on UHP or self supporting
run-flat tyres to facilitate external
locking using PT40 is always advised.
The PT40 device has been designed for easy wheel locking
and mounting-demounting operations of the tyre from-onto
the rim.
