Checking the gas setting

Use the gas setting tables in section 6.2 for comparison.

6.1.1 Comparing the gas setting with the gas supply

• Compare the information on the appliance design (cat-
egory and set gas type) on the type plate with the
type of gas available on site. You can obtain informa-
tion from the local gas supply company.
If they do not match:
• Convert the appliance to the available gas type, see
6.5.

6.1.2 Checking the gas connection pressure

You can check the gas connection pressure using a fluid
pressure gauge (resolution at least 0.1 mbar). This is how
to do it:
• Close the gas shut-off cock.

Fig. 6.1 Measuring port for gas connection pressure
• Remove the plug screw of the connection pressure
measuring port (1).
• Connect a U-pipe pressure gauge.
• Open the gas shut-off cock.
• Start up the appliance according to the operating
manual and draw off hot water.
• Measure the connection pressure (gas flow pressure).

Caution!
Do not start up the appliance if the connection
pressures are outside the permitted range.
Notify the gas company if you cannot rectify
the cause of the problem.

• Put the appliance out of operation.
• Close the gas shut-off cock.
• Take off the U-pipe pressure gauge.
• Screw the plug screw of the connection pressure
measuring port back in.
• Open the gas shut-off cock.
• Check the measuring port for leaks.

6.1.3 Checking the thermal load

There are two ways to check the thermal load:
– Reading the gas flow rate on the meter (volumetric
method)
– Checking the burner pressure (burner pressure meth-
od)
Volumetric method
Make sure that no other gases (such as liquid gas and
air mixtures) are supplied to meet peak consumption
during the test. You can obtain information from the
local gas supply company.
Make sure no other appliances are operated during the
test.

Fig. 6.2 Setting the maximum temperature and performance
• Start up the appliance according to the operating
manual and turn the temperature selector (1) clock-
wise to the maximum temperature.
• Turn the power switch (6) anticlockwise to maximum
performance.
• Find the necessary gas flow in table 6.3 (table value
...l/min), see section 6.2.
• Note the reading on the gas meter.
• Draw off hot water with the tap fully open. The rated
water volume must flow, see section 9, technical data.
• After five minutes' continuous operation, read the gas
flow volume on the meter and compare it with the
value in the table.
Deviations of ± 5% are permitted.
If the deviation is beyond the stated limits:
