6.2.2 Shortening the Protective Cover – Final Shortening
1) Remove the crepe adhesive tape and lengthwise closure from the Protective Cover after pre
liminary shortening.
2) Open the upper closure on the Protective Cover.
3) Spread open the Protective Cover and apply it to the knee joint (see fig. 4).
INFORMATION: The two retainers of the Protective Cover main unit (at the side in the
upper closure area) have to engage on the frame element of the knee joint (see fig. 5).
4) Fasten the upper closure.
→ The retainer of the upper closure has to engage on the frame element of the knee joint
(see fig. 14).
→ Slightly squeeze the Protective Cover together with both hands.
→ Engage the two retainers of the upper closure in the frame of the knee joint.
→ Push down the upper closure with the thumb after engaging it (see fig. 15).
5) Depending on the size of the chosen Protective Cover foot cuff, mark the following distances
in at least 3 places on the Protective Cover (see fig. 6):
INFORMATION: The distances have to be measured respectively from the foot contact
surface, creating a cut edge parallel to the foot contact surface. This makes for an
optimum overlap of the Protective Cover foot cuff over the Protective Cover main unit
(see Page 15).
• Size S: 110 mm
• Size M: 120 mm
• Size L: 125 mm
6) Remove the Protective Cover.
