To reduce the risks associated with exposure to all residual hazards listed in this document:
• Read, understand and follow all safety information contained in the User's Manual prior to using the pipettor. Retain these instructions for future
reference.
To reduce the risk associated with hazardous voltage:
• Do not use transformer if it is damaged. Replace with 3M approved part prior to use.
• Do not self service the pipettor beyond the recommended care & maintenance schedule. There are no user serviceable parts. Use only 3M
authorized service personnel.
• Use only the 3M approved transformer specified for this product and certified for the country of use.
• Do not immerse wall plug-in transformer, stand or pipettor in any liquid.
To reduce the risk associated with fire:
• Follow all instructions and recommendations in the ethanol manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet and on the product label.
• Unplug power to the transformer or charging stand when cleaning pipettor or charging stand and allow ethanol to dry completely before restoring
power.
• Do not modify the pipettor in any way to possibly short the batteries. Follow 3M instructions for battery replacement. Discharge the battery fully
before disposal. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire.
To reduce the risk associated with biohazard exposure:
• Follow all start-of-day, end-of-day and other cleaning and maintenance procedures.
To reduce the risks associated with exposure to biohazard due to a false negative result:
• Ensure correct function of the pipettor prior to use.
• Use only the recommended tips to avoid adversely affecting the accuracy of the instruments.
To reduce the risk associated with environmental contamination:
• Dispose of battery and electronic components in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations.
• Do not puncture, incinerate, crush, or disassemble battery cells, may burst or release toxic or hazardous materials. Do not short circuit, may cause
burns.
• Follow proper laboratory procedures for the disposal of pipettor filters and tips and all sample and test materials.
To reduce the risk associated with personal injury:
• Never put batteries in mouth. If swallowed, contact your Physician or local Poison Control Center.
To reduce the risk associated with wrist and/or muscle strain:
• Avoid using pipettor continuously without taking occasional breaks.
To reduce the risk associated with cleaning and maintenance of the pipettor:
• Always follow Good Laboratory Practices.
• Do not autoclave 3M Electronic Pipettor II - 1 mL.
• Follow proper decontamination/cleaning procedures as indicated in this user manual
• Never tilt the pipettor more than 15 degrees during the aspiration and dispense procedures. Do not rest the pipettor on its side. Always place the
pipettor in the charging stand when not in use.
• Never strike the pipettor tip cone against the tip tray when mounting the tips. This can damage internal components.
• Avoid excessive shock. Do not drop the pipettor, charging stand or transformer.
• Avoid rough handling when using the unit. Moderate keystroke pressure is all that is required for all operating buttons.
• Avoid exposing the unit to extreme changes in temperature, humidity, and dust.
• Use only the recommended grease to avoid causing permanent damage to the piston.
• Use only the recommended tips to avoid damaging the tip cone and ejector mechanism.
