Dry-running level
A forced switch-off of the pumps always occurs,
irrespective of the signal transmitter used.

7.8.4. Operation in case of a fault to the level sensor

If no measured value is detected via the level sen-
sor (e.g. due to a wire break or a defective sensor)
all pumps are deactivated, the fault LED lights up
and the collective fault signal contact is activated.
If high water level is determined via a separate
float switch, all pumps are switched on when
the float switch is switched (emergency
operation)!

7.8.5. Factory settings

The switchgear is pre-set in the factory using
standard settings.
If you wish to reset the switchgear to these fac-
tory settings, please contact Salmson Customer
Service.

8. Commissioning

POTENTIALLY FATAL DANGER due to electrical
voltage!
Incorrect electrical connections can cause fa-
tal electric shocks! Electrical connections may
only be inspected by a qualified electrician
approved by the local energy supply company,
in accordance with locally applicable regula-
tions.
The "Commissioning" section contains all the
important instructions for operating personnel
on commissioning and operating the switchgear
safely.
Always keep this manual either by the switchgear
or in a place specially reserved for it, where it is
accessible for all operating personnel at all times.
All personnel working on or with the switchgear
must have been provided with this operating and
maintenance manual and have read and under-
stood it.
In order to prevent damage or serious injury when
commissioning the switchgear, the following
points must always be observed:
• The switchgear must be installed as described in
the "Installation" section and in accordance with
the applicable national regulations.
• The switchgear must be properly fused and
grounded.
• All unit safety devices and emergency cut-outs
must be connected and inspected to ensure that
they are working properly.
• The switchgear is suitable for use under the spec-
ified operating conditions.

8.1. Level control

The signal transmitters are installed according to
the unit specifications and the desired switching
points set.
When using a level sensor or a dynamic pressure
bell, the switching points were set via the menu.

8.2. Operation in potentially explosive areas

The switchgear may not be installed or used in
potentially explosive areas.
POTENTIALLY FATAL DANGER due to explosive
atmosphere!
The switchgear is not Ex-rated. Operation
in potentially explosive areas will lead to
explosions! The switchgear must always be
installed outside potentially explosive areas!
8.3. Connection of signal transmitters and pumps
within potentially explosive areas
• Pumps comply with the ignition protection class
"Pressure-resistant enclosure".
• The signal transmitters are connected via an
intrinsically safe electric circuit (Ex cut-off relay
or Zener barrier)!
• Dry-running protection and thermal motor moni-
toring are connected to the correct terminals
(see 6.4.4 and 6.4.7)!
• Ex-mode is activated (value is set in menu 5.64
at "on")!

8.4. Activating the switchgear

NOTE
Following a power supply interruption, the
switchgear will automatically start up in the last
operating mode set!
1. Turn main switch to ON position.
2. All LEDs light up for 2 s and the current operating
data and the standby icon appear on the
LC display.
Check the following operating parameters:
• Operating mode: "Drain" or "Fill" (menu 5.01)
• Signal transmitter: "Float", "Level" or "Bell"
(menu 5.07)
• Threshold values for activation/deactivation
level when using a level sensor (menu 1.12
to 1.17)
• Installation and switching points when using
float switches
• Start and stop delay (menu 1.09 to 1.11)
• Limit values for high water and dry-running
protection when using a level sensor
(menu 5.50/5.51)
• Pumps are enabled (menu 3.01)
• Pumps are in the automatic mode (3.02 to 3.04)
If corrections are necessary, proceed as in the
section "Operation".
3. The switchgear is now ready for operation.
NOTE
If the error code "E006" appears on the display
after activation, a phase error is present in the
mains connection. Follow the instructions under
"Rotation control" for this.
