Use
The HEINE EL10 LED
®
must not be used for eye examinations or as
a surgical light.
The HEINE EL10 LED
is intended for use in closed spaces. It is not
®
designed for mobile use or for use outdoors. Improper use can result in
damage to the device or pose a risk to the user.
Prior to each use, check that the HEINE EL10 LED
perly as intended. Do not use the device if visible damage is apparent.
The device does not have an application part and therefore care must
be taken to ensure that the examination light does not come into
contact with the patient!

Ensure that the device is handled properly and carefully.
Do not let the power cable become taut as this could damage the
device or pose a tripping hazard.
Only after the device has been securely mounted, should the power cable
supplied with the device be connected by plugging it into the mains
connection socket (8). To use the device, switch it on by pressing the power
switch (7) so that the switch is in the ON position I and the switch lights
up green.
Positioning
To avoid contamination, position the examination light prior to the
examination as well as during the examination using the assistance.

The swivel arm of the HEINE EL10 LED
examination light has two flexible (1, 3) and
one rigid section (2).
To position the light precisely, hold the
light head by the hand grip (4) and the
gooseneck by the flexible part (1) and bend
the gooseneck into the desired position.
Fine adjustments can be made via the
hand grip (4).
Always use the indicated handling points to
move or position the examination light.
To prevent any glare when the device is
switched on, reduce the brightness to a
minimum before switching off the exami-
nation light or switch it off using the
brightness adjuster.
Do not bend the device more than
90 degrees.
Operation
The optimal working distance is 30 cm. The minimum distance of 20 cm
must not be exceeded.

Hygienic Cleaning / Processing
To prevent cross-contamination, the touched contact surfaces and any
other contaminated surfaces must be cleaned and disinfected after
each use.
The examination light must only be cleaned and disinfected once it
has cooled down and is disconnected from the power supply. The
device must be disconnected from the mains supply for this. It must
be switched off at the power supply and unplugged from the mains.
The examination light may only be cleaned and disinfected by a

member of the hygiene personnel or a person instructed by the hygiene
personnel.
Occupational safety must be assured in all process steps, e.g. by
wearing appropriate protective clothing, goggles and gloves, and
ensuring room air quality.
Only agents that have been tested and approved by HEINE Optotechnik
with regard to material compatibility and effectiveness of disinfection
may be used.
If other procedures / disinfectants are used the fundamental effective-
ness of the procedure must be proven as part of a successful
validation process.
Spray disinfection is not permitted due to the lack of effectiveness and
associated health hazards, and as this may also damage the product.
The application times, environmental temperatures and concentrations
of the disinfectants vary and must be applied in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. The manufacturer's instructions must be
observed.
No sharp, pointed or abrasive objects should be used for cleaning,
as these always risk damaging the surfaces.

Brightness control:
To individually adjust the illuminance, turn the bright-
ness adjuster (5) to the right (see figure).
To switch on the light source, turn the brightness
adjuster to the
symbol.
To switch it off, turn the adjuster until you see the
symbol.
The actual illuminance is indicated on the indicator
bar

Focus adjustment:
To individually adjust the size of the light field
(see figure) turn the focussing ring (6).
The smallest light field is indicated by the symbol
and the largest light field by the symbol
