5.2.1b Bead breaking to the ground. (*)
The bead breaking to the ground with blade is
recommended for small-diameter wheels with steel
rims or for wheels with severely damaged tyres.
Remove all weights from the rim.
Remove the valve and defl ate the tyre.
If necessary, install the plastic protection on the bead
breaker blade.
• Lift and lock the bead breaker arm (Fig. 5.2.1b_a).
• Position the wheel with the valve side facing out and
diametrically opposed to the bead breaker blade
(Fig. 5.2.1b_b).
• To start the bead breaking operation, press the
button on the bead breaker arm (Fig. 5.2.1b_c).
Lubricate the bead and rim with a tyre-specifi c
lubricant only.
WARNING: DO NOT KEEP THE BUTTON PRESSED
LONGER THAN NECESSARY. THIS COULD
DAMAGE THE TYRE BEAD.
• Release the button on the bead breaker arm to
let the bead breaker go back to rest position and
change the bead breaking position.
Turn the tyre and break the inner bead.
Once completed, the bead breaker arm must be
released and lowered.
